Global??? That word sends chills up my spine. Anyway, I wish them the best. The United Methodist church council (or whatever it is referred as) disbanded an over 100 year old country church in our area about 10 years ago. The church had just been remodeled. . .all expenses by congregants (even the property and initial building were congregant supported) . The church did not want to go along with the United Methodist doctrine. One of the head council members upon closing the church said he would rather see it as a coon hunter’s barn than continue the church. It was very sad. The church folded since the Methodists owned their property even though it was fully supported by the locals. There are others in the area as well who have been afraid to buck the system for fear of losing their buildings and property.

Any Christian clergy or denomination that preaches or espouses the homosexual agenda is a devil controlled heretic. St. Paul warned that such frauds would appear and gave explicit instructions how the faithful should deal with them.
“...with it presently being scheduled to take place Aug. 29 – Sept. 6, 2022, in Minneapolis, Minnesota...”
How about Portland..I hear that’s a lovely place!😎
Which denomination will get the Methodist seminars?
That picture is another sign of the times
The UMC is in a quandary. If they refuse to enforce the Book of Discipline, they could have lay people performing Sacraments and they would be powerless to stop it. So a circuit church (we have several) could just stop paying the pastor they share and have lay people do everything.
I won’t go to a church that’s affiliated with an American mainline denomination. They are all spiritually corrupt. My present church is affiliated with an international church movement started by American missionaries in the Philippines and Japan.
God’s Word says:
“Their women exchanged the normal practices of sexual intercourse for something which is abnormal and unnatural.
Similarly the men, turning from natural intercourse with women, were swept into lustful passions for one another. Men with men performed these shameful horrors, receiving, of course, in their own personalities the consequences of sexual perversity.”
(New Testament, Romans 1:26,27)
I grew up UM, but left over 30 years ago. The leftism and heresy were evident in some places then. I can’t even imagine what it must be like now. This is a long time coming.
Again, God’s Word says:
“Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or anyone practicing homosexuality, no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom.”
(New Testament, I Corinthians 6:9,10)
The Left wants to seize the assets and buildings of the churches, by driving the conservatives out.
The civil war over LGBT has come or will come to every mainstream Christian denomination in North America and Europe. Ultimately, each church must choose between: (1) sticking with the historical, natural-law based-position on gender and sexuality; or (2) going full-on Episcopalian with approval of same-sex acts, same-sex marriage, out-and-proud LGBT clergy, etc.
There is no middle way.
Does a picture say a thousand words?
Well, this group appears to be a dour, very unhappy bunch.
Just an observation, for what it’s worth.
Could they start their own church? Yes
Could they go to one of the churches that have liberal standards (as in absolutely no standards)? No.
Do they enjoy taking a bodacious Obama on everything they touch? Yes.
When are we going to tell them to STFU and get a room?
The people in that picture look exactly as expected.
Sad, angry, self loathing .
Well, maybe.
In my experience the only split in the Methodist church you could draw would be between ordinary liberals and ultra-crazy liberals.
I quit.
The Episcopal church went the same way. I’d love to join a conservative church but am not sure which way to go. I’d love suggestions, please.
I imagine that most of the United Methodists who had no tolerance for liberalism and lukewarmth hightailed it to other churches a long time ago. It may be that this group represents fairly traditional small-town and rural congregations who accepted lip service about the liberalism, did their own thing, and neither partook in nor confronted the craziness.
It seems like the crazies have other brazenly liberal churches they could migrate to. Seems like the same would be true of the traditionalists. I’m not a methodist expert, but off the top of my head I can name the Wesleyan, Free Methodist, and Primitive Methodist denominations claiming the same Wesleyan Arminian theological pedigree. It seems like this is ultimately about finances and real estate. The power move for the UMC traditionalists would be to enforce their stated policy, bounce the disobedient, and let the liberals who can’t tolerate that pack their bags instead. I don’t think they have the grit for it, though.
Anybody know which way the American Indian United Methodist Church is leaning?
