Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 44

Psalm 44[a]

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil.[b]

1 We have heard it with our ears, O God;
    our ancestors have told us
what you did in their days,
    in days long ago.
2 With your hand you drove out the nations
    and planted our ancestors;
you crushed the peoples
    and made our ancestors flourish.
3 It was not by their sword that they won the land,
    nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was your right hand, your arm,
    and the light of your face, for you loved them.

4 You are my King and my God,
    who decrees[c] victories for Jacob.
5 Through you we push back our enemies;
    through your name we trample our foes.
6 I put no trust in my bow,
    my sword does not bring me victory;
7 but you give us victory over our enemies,
    you put our adversaries to shame.
8 In God we make our boast all day long,
    and we will praise your name forever.[d]

9 But now you have rejected and humbled us;
    you no longer go out with our armies.
10 You made us retreat before the enemy,
    and our adversaries have plundered us.
11 You gave us up to be devoured like sheep
    and have scattered us among the nations.
12 You sold your people for a pittance,
    gaining nothing from their sale.

13 You have made us a reproach to our neighbors,
    the scorn and derision of those around us.
14 You have made us a byword among the nations;
    the peoples shake their heads at us.
15 I live in disgrace all day long,
    and my face is covered with shame
16 at the taunts of those who reproach and revile me,
    because of the enemy, who is bent on revenge.

17 All this came upon us,
    though we had not forgotten you;
    we had not been false to your covenant.
18 Our hearts had not turned back;
    our feet had not strayed from your path.
19 But you crushed us and made us a haunt for jackals;
    you covered us over with deep darkness.

20 If we had forgotten the name of our God
    or spread out our hands to a foreign god,
21 would not God have discovered it,
    since he knows the secrets of the heart?
22 Yet for your sake we face death all day long;
    we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.

23 Awake, Lord! Why do you sleep?
    Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever.
24 Why do you hide your face
    and forget our misery and oppression?

25 We are brought down to the dust;
    our bodies cling to the ground.
26 Rise up and help us;
    rescue us because of your unfailing love.

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name over All The Earth!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God.
We Praise and Worship You
and Love You with Our Whole Whole Heart,
Soul, Mind and Spirit.

Dear Father,
We Repent of Murmuring Against You,
Even When You Are providing For us Daily.
We Repent of Disobeying You
Even When You Give Us Specific instructions For Our Daily Lives.
We Repent of thinking that somehow,
we can "do it better than You".
Please forgive us!

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed."

You may have noticed this addition to the Template of the Prayer Portion of this Thread. It has been my Prayer for over a year now. The following little stories about concealment and revelation might ring a bell:

1. A Comedy Routine was disguised as a"Specially Edited Family-Friendly Version of "The Sopranos" and aired only once as I can recall. That particular series was aired on a Premium Cable, and therefore was not governed by any Broadcasting rules against violence or obscenity. The scene opens with Tony opening the refrigerator (a recurring theme:)

TONY: "Where the (bleep) is the (bleep)(bleep) gabagoo? I (bleep) put the (bleep)(bleep) gabagoo in the (bleep) fridge last (bleep) night! Why the (bleep)(bleep) can't I (bleep) keep any (bleep) gabagoo in the (bleep) house?" ("Gabagoo", I assume, is a kind of Italian Luncheon Meat.)

2. Just yesterday, the FBI released their report on the murder of Seth Rich. It was redacted in exactly the same manner as the "Family-Friendly" version of "The Sopranos". Since it was so heavily redacted, I think it is safe to assume that some very important people would be incriminated by its full exposure.

3. I was driving with the Radio on, and I heard this commercial from a local car dealership:

"ZERO Money Down!!!!
ZERO Percent Interest!!!!
ZERO Payments for the First Three Months!!!
Yes, Mitsubishi LOVES our ZEROS!"

When I heard the ad, I almost sprayed my windshield with my coffee! Mitsubishi was the manufacturer of the Aircraft called the "Zero", which was the model of plane that bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, a Day the will live in Infamy." My Dad, a Veteran of the War in the Pacific, would get very angry when he saw a Mitsubishi on the road. Had the Company's past been so covered up over the years that the Car Dealership and Ad Agency had no clue as to the offensiveness of their commercial?

4. I am very interested in History, especially WW2. Lately there have been several books alleging that FDR knew about the Pearl Harbor attacks and could have prevented them, but didn't. Other books say that Churchill instigated the attacks to get the USA into the War. Still other theories have emerged, most of them worth less than Tony's missing Gabagoo. Will we ever know the truth, or is it lost to History?

Today's Psalm is a Prayer for Vindication. Vindication can not be achieved without TRUTH. A lie or a theory does not vindicate...it only covers up, or perhaps soothes the seeker into a false sense of gratification. Like Tony's missing cold-cuts, or the heavily redacted report, the theory or false narrative does not bring Justice or Vindication at all!

Truth (and God IS Truth!) is not always what we expect or want, but it is Absolute. In our prayers for Vindication and Revelation, we must be prepared for an unpleasant reality, because Truth is no respecter of persons. If it is finally revealed that Seth Rich was murdered by someone in Government, or that Tony's own son ate the Gabagoo, or that FDR ordered the Pacific Fleet to be destroyed by Zeros, so be it. Truth is not governed by Politics, Religion, Custom, Tradition, or Culture. Truth just IS. Sometimes it hurts. Sometimes it seems to take forever, But where Truth is, there is Vindication.

When I was in real estate, I dealt with some old Italians who spoke a mix of English and Italian, like for insurance they would say insoranza (assicurazione in Italian). They were the old generation of immigrants, probably with very little schooling, but they did their best.
