Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 33

Psalm 33

1 Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;
    it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
2 Praise the Lord with the harp;
    make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
3 Sing to him a new song;
    play skillfully, and shout for joy.

4 For the word of the Lord is right and true;
    he is faithful in all he does.
5 The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
    the earth is full of his unfailing love.

6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
    their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars[a];
    he puts the deep into storehouses.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord;
    let all the people of the world revere him.
9 For he spoke, and it came to be;
    he commanded, and it stood firm.

10 The Lord foils the plans of the nations;
    he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
    the purposes of his heart through all generations.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
    the people he chose for his inheritance.
13 From heaven the Lord looks down
    and sees all mankind;
14 from his dwelling place he watches
    all who live on earth—
15 he who forms the hearts of all,
    who considers everything they do.

16 No king is saved by the size of his army;
    no warrior escapes by his great strength.
17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
    despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
    on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19 to deliver them from death
    and keep them alive in famine.

20 We wait in hope for the Lord;
    he is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
    for we trust in his holy name.
22 May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
    even as we put our hope in you.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

A few days ago, I asked the prayer Warriors on this Thread to pray for a FReeper named "circlecity". I did not know what was troubling this person, and did not even know if this was a man or a woman. The Lord gave me a little "sermonette" in which He instructed me to "Pray in the Dark."

Circlecity has shared with us God's answer to our prayers and has given me permission to share it with you.

I would like to follow up with everyone who was praying for me this weekend. For explanation, I am a Christian man and for a long time the most important things in my life have been my Savior, my wife and my Church. When the pandemic first started and the initial lockdowns were declared I essentially became a shut-in. My wife has serious preexisting conditions and I wanted no chance to infect her. Our church locked down and had zoom meetings only and I worked exclusively online from home. I didn't get to teach Sunday school because of the lockdown. For a year I had no social life and I was essentially on house arrest.
Out of boredom, loneliness and depression I started drinking. A little wine at first, then mixed drinks, then shots, then straight from the bottle. By the end of 2020 i realized this was getting out of control and I decided to stop. But I couldn't , it had gotten the upper hand on me. I tried and tried and the more I failed the more depressed and distraught I became. Then in March I discovered I had prostate cancer (treatable) but that added fuel to the depression. Last Friday I swore I wouldn't drink and by 8:00 I was drunk. I've never felt so worthless, hopeless and depressed. I felt I had failed my God, my Savior, my wife. And it really hurt and I just broke down. I was having bad thoughts. Thank goodness I posted though. When I saw the prayers coming in on this board I was encouraged. A while later, and I can't explain this, I could actually feel people praying for me. And it got me through the night. Saturday I got into AA and had people counseling me all weekend. For the first time in a year I feel positive and confident I can beat this thing with God's help and the support of my Christian brothers and sisters.
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers. They accomplished more than you will ever know.

Not all prayers are answered this quickly, and sometimes we "Pray In The Dark" for much longer than we think we can handle. But God is Faithful!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

FATHER GOD,

We pray in agreement with the petitions in Colossians 1:9-14 for circlecity and all FReepers.

Since we first heard about you, we’ve been praying and asking GOD to fill you with spiritual wisdom, insight, and understanding so you may walk in a way that’s worthy and pleasing to the Lord – bearing the fruit of good work and growing in knowledge of GOD. May you be strengthened with all power according to GOD’S glorious might.

May you endure with patience and joy, giving thanks to our FATHER, Who has qualified and enabled you to share with the saints – the inheritance of GOD’S holy people who live in The Light.

May our FATHER rescue you from the power of darkness and transport you into the Kingdom of the Son Who Is Loved, Who loves you, forgives sin and redeems.

In JESUS Name we pray. Amen.

Psalm 99

1 The Lord is king; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
2 The Lord is great in Zion;
he is exalted over all the peoples.
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name.
Holy is he!
4 Mighty King,* lover of justice,
you have established equity;
you have executed justice
and righteousness in Jacob.
5 Extol the Lord our God;
worship at his footstool.
Holy is he!

6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests,
Samuel also was among those who called on his name.
They cried to the Lord, and he answered them.
7 He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
they kept his decrees,
and the statutes that he gave them.

8 O Lord our God, you answered them;
you were a forgiving God to them,
but an avenger of their wrongdoings.
9 Extol the Lord our God,
and worship at his holy mountain;
for the Lord our God is holy.
