Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 26

Psalm 26

Of David.

1 Vindicate me, Lord,
    for I have led a blameless life;
I have trusted in the Lord
    and have not faltered.
2 Test me, Lord, and try me,
    examine my heart and my mind;
3 for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love
    and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.

4 I do not sit with the deceitful,
    nor do I associate with hypocrites.
5 I abhor the assembly of evildoers
    and refuse to sit with the wicked.
6 I wash my hands in innocence,
    and go about your altar, Lord,
7 proclaiming aloud your praise
    and telling of all your wonderful deeds.

8 Lord, I love the house where you live,
    the place where your glory dwells.
9 Do not take away my soul along with sinners,
    my life with those who are bloodthirsty,
10 in whose hands are wicked schemes,
    whose right hands are full of bribes.
11 I lead a blameless life;
    deliver me and be merciful to me.

12 My feet stand on level ground;
    in the great congregation I will praise the Lord.

New International Version (NIV)(End of Scripture Passage)

Psalm 26 is a personal prayer asking God to search my heart.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

As you know, I have only been attending my church since The First Sunday of Advent 2020, so I don't know everybody yet. I am, however, on the email list for prayer requests, and receive an email every day with the concerns of our little flock. I pray for each and every one of the people who ask, even though I can't put all the names with all the faces yet. I figure that God knows whom I am talking about!

Anyway, one name that kept coming up was "Mama Mazz". A year ago, she got COVID, and was in the ICU for a whole year. We kept praying for her, but it looked like the outcome would be grim.

Easter Sunday, I noticed a chair set apart with a "RESERVED" sign on it. There were helium balloons tied to the chair, as well as some ribbons and bows. Of course, I was up on the platform with a 30 pound bass guitar hanging around my neck, so I couldn't get closer to see the sign, or ask anyone who the seat was reserved FOR, so I just played and sang and worshiped the Lord.

After our opening song, a smiling, elderly lady was led to the chair, escorted down the aisle like a bride. The whole church erupted into applause.

It was Mama Mazz!

Many of us have lost loved ones in the last year. One of our church members has lost seven family members in just the last six months. Tragedy has struck nearly every American Family in some way, and we don't understand why some prayers seem to go unanswered while others produce miracles.

David ponders this in his Psalms, but he never loses Faith. When David lays his case out before God, he is honest with his feelings, but never blames God for what happens. because God is the Same, Yesterday, Today, and Forever, we can also be transparent with God when we pray. Remember...God can spot a "phony" from light years away. David's honesty with God is a hallmark of his prayers, and can be ours too.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

Psalm 85

To the leader. Of the Korahites. A Psalm.

1 Lord, you were favourable to your land;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people;
you pardoned all their sin.
Selah
3 You withdrew all your wrath;
you turned from your hot anger.

4 Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away your indignation towards us.
5 Will you be angry with us for ever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
so that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.

8 Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people,
to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts.*
9 Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land.

10 Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet;
righteousness and peace will kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness will spring up from the ground,
and righteousness will look down from the sky.
12 The Lord will give what is good,
and our land will yield its increase.
13 Righteousness will go before him,
and will make a path for his steps.

There is no reason not to be completely open and honest with God, because HE ALREADY KNOWS OUR EVERY THOUGHT. We absolutely cannot lie to God.
