Be convinced of these 4 biblical truths: 1. Each of us has sinned; 2. God is just, requiring a punishment for sin; 3. But out of love God sent His Son, Jesus Christ who by dying on the cross, provided forgiveness of sins in taking man’s deserved punishment; 4. Therefore, by faith alone in Christ’s sacrifice for our sins and belief in His resurrection, man can gain eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 3:21-26)
LOL ... one born every minute.
Do you really believe The Creator of the Universe needs or even desirtes your flesh works to put HIS LIFE in your human spirit? Is your Catholic Org god so weak that he would need your help? Does your Jesus only have insufficient worth to guarantee He has paid your penalty for sin? Pssst, there is no such thing as purgatory where you can pay for your sins with your flesh or anything else, but that only applies to those who are trusting in The Lord Christ to be their sufficient Savior.
Salvation comes by faith ALONE in Christ Alone. You cannot add and are not required to add anything to the work the Supreme Creator of the Universe has done on your behalf. You do not and will not deserve ANY glory for the salvation GOD gives to you by HIS GRACE.
Everyone already has salvation thanks to what Christ completed on the cross. All sin has been paid for. The only thing you can do is to reject it, and many do just that.
Thankful for completed work Jesus did on the cross! And the victory he gives!
24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. NIV24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. NKJV
24 `Verily, verily, I say to you -- He who is hearing my word, and is believing Him who sent me, hath life age-during, and to judgment he doth not come, but hath passed out of the death to the life. Young's Literal Translation
Wouldn't GOD know how we are to be saved and when it happens? Why would men like John Piper and John MacArthur ignore the clear teaching of Jesus?
I wonder, do they actually believe there are conditionals Jesus left out to trick people to believe and follow Him, before they could learn the conditions He did not give them then? Does God have a list of works we must do and He checks them off as we do them, to reach a point when He says, 'Okay, you pass. Enter into my rest.'? Are they subverted by the mythos of Peter standing at The Pearly Gates checking a book to see if we have done enough to earn or merit the Gift of God?
Works are the wrong form of payment for sin, therefore do not count for salvation.
Even a causal reading of Scripture shows that God is interested in the heart above and beyond the outward actions.
Works mean nothing considering how well they can be done with the wrong motives.
And you ignore what Jesus taught that you disagree with.
Your response was a personal opinion without any substance.
RWC comment: “John 6:29 shreds your posts - from the Lips of Jesus The Savior Himself.”
Yes belief in Jesus is very important and having true faith involves believing in all the teachings of Jesus.
And you ignore John 6:53 where Jesus tells us “unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.”
Romans 10:13 refers to Joel 2:32 The prophet envisions a time of judgement and salvation in the messianic age. This text was also the inspiration of Peter’s inaugural sermon in Acts 2:15 where calling the name of the Lord was linked to Baptism.
your comment: “baptism is not part of salvation it is the first step of obedience after your saved.”” we cant do anything to earn our way to heaven.”
Read Mark 16:16 Regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit refers to Baptism.(Titus)
Salvation springs entirely from the mercy and grace of God, but we either accept or reject it by our actions and words.
No one answered my question: “Does one have faith if they deny some of God’s Truths?”
Call no man “Father”.
And that doesn’t mean rationalize away disobedience simply because a child calls his male parent his father.
That was not an answer. It was protestant misinterpretation of the Bible.
I will stick with 2000 years of teachings of Jesus from His Catholic Church over protestant man-made versions of God’s Truth.
We can indeed Mom. Assurance of salvation is a beautiful thing, even if some refer to it, the so called sin of presumption. If that is a sin, I will commit it all day, every day. 😁 It’s not a sin, however. It’s a blessing. See you at the pre trib rapture. 👍
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; Matt. 7:21-24.
You are correct MM. Let me give you another verse, that I believe is often misinterpreted. Genesis 6:3: “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” The context, is the Nephilim and the upcoming Flood, but right in the middle of the discussion about the Flood, many think God suddenly changes, and says man will only live 120 years? I don’t believe that interpretation. Most people don’t get past 80 and Noah lived another 300 years after the Flood, so it didn’t quite work out that way. I believe all God meant, was the people had 120 years to repent, before the Flood wiped them out. This may very well have been how long it took Noah to build the ark. It really is that simple. 👍
Sorry ADSUM, but I have proof that the ancient church fathers believed in the “Protestant misinterpretation.”
Catholicism is nonsense that didn’t show up ‘til 5 centuries after Christ.
I’ve repeatedly pulled quotes from the ancient church fathers to show your errors.
You’ve shown bupkis.
John 6:25-40
25 When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”
26 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
30 So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? 31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’[c]”
32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
and I will raise them up at the last day.”
Well; once you're convinced that "Call no man father" doesn't mean what it plainly says; you can then go on to believe most anything else that Rome insists upon.
I mean, "C'mon, man! Would an apparition LIE to you??"
Since you posted something that James wrote, why didn't you post it?
I think you are, shall we say, mistaken.
Ya see, there is this thing called "The Book of Life".
Things get written in it from time to time...
Ok; just what are those, for the church at Rome seems to require MORE than what Jesus referred to.
