Be convinced of these 4 biblical truths: 1. Each of us has sinned; 2. God is just, requiring a punishment for sin; 3. But out of love God sent His Son, Jesus Christ who by dying on the cross, provided forgiveness of sins in taking man’s deserved punishment; 4. Therefore, by faith alone in Christ’s sacrifice for our sins and belief in His resurrection, man can gain eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 3:21-26)

And just how do you know this?

Where are you getting these false beliefs?

Thank you very much! Who could add to that?

How could “works people” deny all of that scripture, the very Word of God?

But they WILL!

AMEN

Thank you.

The wages of sin is death, not good works.

Good works to not atone for sin nor cancel out sin committed.

And they are not necessary to *prove* to God how sincere you are or how real your faith it. It's more like people are trying to prove it to each other. Or themselves.

Luke 18:9-14 He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’

But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Works is a result of salvation, not the requirement for salvation. Catholics have justification and sanctification turned around.

No. That's not what the Lord has said. You have the cart before the horse.

Salvation is not given until the judgement. That's why it's called the judgement. Being judged good or evil. In Matt 25, Jesus is very detailed in this explanation.

Works come from, first having faith in Jesus Christ and second from obeying His commandments. Which is why they are called commandments. We are commanded to do them.

The Apostle James gives clear details.

James 2
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Works are absolutely required for salvation, because Jesus will not give salvation to anyone that has not done the works they were commanded to do. That's not even a bit ambiguous in the Bible. Jesus and His prophets have been exact in their language. And no one is getting around it.

James 2:
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

[faucetman]I’m not seeing anything about “salvation” in that verse, try again.

Then you're blind.

James 2:
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for brighteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Matt 25:31-46 is explicit.

Matt 25:
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Jesus says He will judge people by what they do. If you didn't obey Him and do the works He commanded, it proves you didn't actually have faith and He will cast you out. Those are His words.

If you try to save yourself by works, you’ll end up at the Great White Throne, because you have chosen to be judged by the law, in which all have failed, except for One.

Welcome to FR! **Join date 1/14/21**

Whatever your religion taught you that works are necessary for Salvation, I suggest you not take James out of context.

Church of Christ, Pentecostals, and other extreme denominations love to use just that one book to justify their rigorous step system of Salvation.

Thankfully, God never required an Allah-like system to achieve it.

Faith results in a new creation. Which then proceeds to works, and nobody here is suggesting empty professions of faith will get you anywhere with The Lord.

Romans 4:5 is the same as James 2:26

Romans 3:27
Romans 3:28
Titus 3:5
Ezekiel 36:26-27
2 Corinthians 5:17
Galatians 2:16
Galatians 3:24
Ephesians 2:8-10

Don’t try teaching another gospel (Galatians 1:9)

Other verses for Salvation:

Acts 16:31
Romans 10:9-13
John 6:29
Mark 16:16
John 3:18
John 3:36
1 John 5:12-15

its called the bible.
nobody is good enough to work their way to heaven. all our righteousness are as filthy rags
to believe in infant baptism as a means of salvation is ridiculous.
if you had to be baptized to be saved Jesus wouldnt have gotten baptized because he was sinless. he did so as an example of what our public testimony should be in identifying as a christian, remember the jews including paul- saul before he was saved went around and marked those that left judaism and persecuted them and killed many, and they would watch for those getting baptized. There was a lot of pressure in those days.
they were kinda like the catholics- you know the ones that caused the dark ages by chaining the bibles to the pews so nobody could read Gods word.
eating bread, drinking juice, getting dunked in the water doesn’t save someone only
trust in Jesus alone and the work he did on the cross saves someone. pretty simple, but it isn’t cheap.

True.

Over 150,000 people die each day.
If they valued their lives, you’d think they’d at least do some homework to find The Truth.

False Religion sends more people to hell than probably anything else.

absolutely, satan is the great deceiver, and he mixes in a little error with a lot of truth, just like he did with adam and eve and we see the error brought death. error in our understanding salvation is also a life and death matter for eternity.
Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
why do catholics call the pope holy father when God and the bible clearly prohibit this, if the pope loves God and his word he would refuse to be called this as it is blasphemous!

So I am wondering how you deal with the commandment God gave us to....

Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother?

In Matthew 23 Jesus is specifically addressing the use of the term *Father* as a religious title.

He is NOT talking about a child calling his male parent by that name.

That argument that it precludes using the word at all is intellectually dishonest. The title of *Father* given to religious leaders is the only thing forbidden, not it’s common everyday family use.

But then again, Catholicism has to twist Scripture to justify its teachings that violate the very Scripture it claims it wrote.

You need to read what St. Paul says about that. He agrees with the Catholic Church.

“I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel” (1 Cor. 4:14–15).

Sometimes protestants throw out Catholic teaching just because it is Catholic.

AND where James writes, ‘Faith without works is dead faith’, he is writing that from the JEWISH foundation of his reasoning and is not saying there is no saving faith just that the faith is inactive, not producing the works the Holy Spirit can bring forth. For an example of this Jewish way of speaking of ded notice the meaning Jesus held when He told His disciples concerning the young man who pleaed to wait to join Messiah’s ministry until he could bury his father: Let the dead go bury their dead. There are at least two meanings wrapped in that term ‘dead’. James is referring to one of those, the faith that saved is inactive, not nonexistent.

Endorsing blasphemies doesn’t lend credulity to them. As you skip along that broad road thinking you can earn the narrow door as you see the wide gate approaching, remember your foolish endorsements of Catholic ORG blasphemies. And call out to Christ alone

When you start with this lie, there is little chance you are seeing The Truth of what The Word of God declares: you asserted, "Salvation is not given until the judgement."

When I believed in my heart that Jesus died for my sins, all my sins done and yet to come, MY SIN WAS JUDGed in Christ's work. I have right now, God abiding in my spirit. How can I assert that? Because it is a Promise from GOD and to deny His Promises is to call Him something blasphemous ... God cannot lie and He is not the trickster to give you something then take it back if you don't dance an ORG dance well enough. The Word of God tells us 'so you may know that you HAVE eternal life.' Which cult do you choose to die with?

I'm sorry... its pretty a clear verse... it says call NONE your Father...

+++"And call none your father upon earth; for one is your father, who is in heaven."+++

Now if you're right** and we can have exclusions to the "calling NONE" wording of the verse ... than I would offer to you....

THAT NO CATHOLIC EVER CONFUSES Fr. Jones - who is upon earth - WITH GOD THE FATHER in Heaven... We all pretty much think God the Father in Heaven is a one off deal here- And so we say at every Mass.."We Believe in ONE TRUE GOD - THE FATHER Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth"..... Not too confusing there - is it ? ... even for Steelers fans?

Now back in the day.... maybe there were religious men in Judea who sought, or required, that reserved Godly praise and worship ...like Herod or someone.... BUT NOT TODAY and NOT IN THE CHURCH !!! How absurd..

So What Did Jesus Mean?

Jesus criticized Jewish leaders who love “the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the market places, and being called ‘rabbi’ by men” (Matt. 23:6–7). He was using hyperbole (exaggeration) to show the scribes and Pharisees how sinful and proud they were for not looking humbly to God as the source of all authority and fatherhood and teaching, and instead setting themselves up as the ultimate authorities, father figures, and teachers.

Christ used hyperbole often, for example when he declared, “If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell” (Matt. 5:29, cf. 18:9; Mark 9:47). Christ certainly did not intend this to be applied literally, for otherwise all Christians would be blind amputees! (cf. 1 John 1:8; 1 Tim. 1:15).

Jesus is not forbidding us to call men “fathers” who actually are such—either literally or spiritually. He is warning people against inaccurately attributing fatherhood—or a particular kind or degree of fatherhood—to those who do not have it.

As the apostolic example shows, some individuals genuinely do have a spiritual fatherhood, meaning that they can be referred to as spiritual fathers. What must not be done is to confuse their form of spiritual paternity with that of God. Ultimately, God is our supreme protector, provider, and instructor. Correspondingly, it is wrong to view any individual other than God as having these roles.

We are not call anybody holy father as Catholics call the pope his holiness and holy father that is blasphemous and proves Catholics don’t care about the Bible Gods word- they never have!
Honoring your father and mother is a separate issue but is important!

Another issue

I Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Forbidding to marry is another false teaching and the Bible actually says it’s the doctrine of devils!
