Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 12

Psalm 12[a]

For the director of music. According to sheminith.[b] A psalm of David.

1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;
    they flatter with their lips
but harbor deception in their hearts.

3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips
    and every boastful tongue—
4 those who say,
    “By our tongues we will prevail;
our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”

5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
I will now arise,” says the Lord.
“I will protect them from those who malign them.”
6 And the words of the Lord are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
    like gold[c] refined seven times.

7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
and will protect us forever from the wicked,
8 who freely strut about
when what is vile is honored by the human race.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed,
Magnificent,
and Sanctified
is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed and How True is Your Word,
and How Mighty!
How Glorious,
to Span the Millennia,
To be Unfettered by Time and Space,
To Know The End from the Beginning
and the beginning from The End!
For it is You, Oh LORD,
Who designed the Galaxies with Your Compass,
And Mapped Out the Vast Reaches of Space
With Your Word and Your Omniscient Imagination!
Scientists tell us even the heavens are finite.
But YOU are Infinite!

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 12 is an outpouring before the Lord, from David's heart. At first it may seem like a complaint! We all know how annoying complaints can be, and so we wonder why such a prayer would be included in the Holy Bible. Are we to emulate this in our prayer life?

In my particular branch of Christianity, there are many "Positive Thinking " advocates and "Prosperity Teachers" who go overboard in the direction of avoiding any negative thoughts. These teachers have an excellent point when preaching from such wonderful verses as Ephesians 4:29:

"You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth,"

Or Philippians 4:

"8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

In fact, in my Church, we recently abstained from saying negative things, and believe me, it was harder than fasting from food!

And yet, before God, we are not to spout bravado and hubris. If we are not "transparent" before God, we become like the Pharisee in this parable:

(Luke 18) "10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”"

It is a good thing to be "Positive", but make sure that the Positive Thinking" is towards the Glory of God and not our own prowess.

And, when it's appropriate to humble oneself in the Presence of The Almighty, do that, too. God sees and knows EVERYTHING, and is not impressed with Bravado!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

Psalm 1

1 Happy are those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread,
or sit in the seat of scoffers;
2 but their delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law they meditate day and night.
3 They are like trees
planted by streams of water,
which yield their fruit in its season,
and their leaves do not wither.
In all that they do, they prosper.

4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgement,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Wow, you hit my hot-buttons:
* God uses the full Eph.4:29 to filter my speech. My pastor taught a Bible study on it forty years ago, and it came alive for me.

* God uses Phil.4:8 to filter my thoughts. I once put a copy of it on my radio as a reminder, and its presence has been symbolic there and on the TV and laptop ever since. Indeed, I created and use a silly mnemonic to remember (and apply) its eight elements.

And so, once again, you make it easy to agree with you in prayer!

Here are the lyrics to a song I wrote for Biker Church, based upon that Scripture (Hard Rock Beat)

*THINK ON THESE THINGS c2014
(Philippians 4)

(VERSE1)

Whatsoever is True
Whatsoever is Holy
Whatsoever is Right,
Whatsoever is Noble,
Whatever builds you up
Instead of tearing down,
Always, Always,
Always think on these things.

(VERSE 2)

Whatsoever is Pure,
Whatsoever is Lovely,
Whatsoever is Good,
Whatsoever is Holy,
Whatsoever is the Best
And Worthy of Praise,
Always, Always,
Always think on these things.

(CHORUS)

And the Peace of the Lord
Which passes all understanding,
Will guard your heart and your mind.
If you walk with the Lord
He’ll keep you in Perfect Peace
When your Mind is Stayed on Him.

THAT, is special. Wish I could hear it!

Before Hebrews 11:6 became my favorite verse over twenty-five years ago, my favorite was Philippians 4:6-7. That's how God bootstrapped me into verse 8.

Amen.

Great song lyrics. I have been increasingly distressed that many of the newer praise and worship songs do not include scripture.

Everyone lies to their neighbor;
they flatter with their lips
but harbor deception in their hearts.

And this goes with one of my favorite non-biblical proverbs; Flatters, like cats, lick, then scratch.

Joining in prayer, left that other site, for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
