The Lord will give him the throne of his ancestor David

The word of the Lord came to Nathan:

  ‘Go and tell my servant David, Thus the Lord speaks: “When your days are ended and you are laid to rest with your ancestors, I will preserve the offspring of your body after you and make his sovereignty secure. (It is he who shall build a house for my name, and I will make his royal throne secure for ever.) I will be a father to him and he a son to me. Your House and your sovereignty will always stand secure before me and your throne be established for ever.”’

Abraham hoped, and he believed

The promise of inheriting the world was not made to Abraham and his descendants on account of any law but on account of the righteousness which consists in faith. That is why what fulfils the promise depends on faith, so that it may be a free gift and be available to all of Abraham’s descendants, not only those who belong to the Law but also those who belong to the faith of Abraham who is the father of all of us. As scripture says: I have made you the ancestor of many nations – Abraham is our father in the eyes of God, in whom he put his faith, and who brings the dead to life and calls into being what does not exist.

  Though it seemed Abraham’s hope could not be fulfilled, he hoped and he believed, and through doing so he did become the father of many nations exactly as he had been promised: Your descendants will be as many as the stars. This is the faith that was ‘considered as justifying him.’

How Jesus Christ came to be born

Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary; of her was born Jesus who is called Christ.

  This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph; being a man of honour and wanting to spare her publicity, decided to divorce her informally. He had made up his mind to do this when the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.’ When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do.

Don’t know what religion you profess, but Christianity, Islam and Hindu don’t view sex as “dirty” between a husband and the wife.

From a biological and physical standpoint consider this...

I believe that the Virgin Mary (Miriam) was concieved by the Holy Spirit. Therefore her hyman was not broken.

When the Lkrd was born, the hyman was broken from the inside out. Therefore healable, naturally.

St. Joseph “new Mary” and she concieved other children (see “brothers and sisters”).

Hey, I wasn’t there, but it is entirely possible.

What’s remarkable to me is the negative reaction some people have to this masterpiece. It’s a big favorite of mine.

I think there is a real problem (which I totally get) that certain Christians have with art that may not be "Scriptually-sound." Of COURSE we don't know the particulars about the Flight, just like we haven't much about St. Joseph. And, to be fair, I don't want people making up stuff that can lead away from Salvation.

But bland art is...well...bland. It doesn't ignite the spirit. Years ago when I worked in NYC, I went to MoMA. Initially I thought it would be awful - modern art is "trash." But when I saw the really good stuff, up-close and in-person, it was moving. It made me THINK. It moved my spirit. Bingo!

I went to a religious theater a few years ago and at the start of the show, a guy came out and explicitly said "this isn't Bible study...some things we made up to keep the show moving. Please don't roast us." That worked for me...and the show MOVED me. Bingo again!

Some people would prefer that the gifted artist should follow the parable of the sevrent who buried his talent. That's nonsense. Yes, he who chooses to undertake religious art should accept the obligation to not lead others into error. In turn, we consumers of art shouldn't be quick to point out the Scriptural deficiencies and open our hearts to be moved.

I'd love to go see their Egyptian section if I ever make it back and it museums ever re-open.

However, he will have his chance to explain his hateful words to our good Lord.

The Church Fathers Clement of Rome 35 A.D., Ignatius of Antioch 35-108 A.D., Justin Martyr 100 A.D. and Irenaeus of Lyons 135 A.D. wrote the TRUTHS of the VERY early Catholic Church.

They are historical figures. They witnessed the earliest Christians very soon after Jesus's Death, Resurrection and Ascension.

There were only Catholics for 14 CENTURIES.
The catechism was a VERY early composition of the Church Fathers. That same Catechism is periodically updated.
The one I have is CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, second edition, revised in accordance with the official Latin text promulgated by Pope John Paul II. Revised in 2016. For the centuries old Church that is like YESTERDAY.

It includes only one revision, and that is a revision of the Church's view of the death penalty.

I used to think so too, but after an incident in 2004 I realized that it is a combination of ignorance and “false news”.

In 2004 I visited Athens for the first time and went on a tour of the Acropolis with a guide. There was an elderly Florida gent who came along (I didn’t know him prior to this) and half way through this he was asking questions about how this and that was in the Da Vinci code. The guide patiently explained to him how this was wrong.

I then chatted with him during a break.

Still didn’t convince him. He gave me his email.

After 4 years of delicately pointing out the errors to him here and there, he finally started reading for himself and realized the false information fed to him. But it took 4 years.

We have a lot of implicit bias in what we have heard.
