Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 6
Psalm 6[a]
For the director of music. With stringed instruments. According to sheminith.[b] A psalm of David.
1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.
2 Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint;
heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.
3 My soul is in deep anguish.
How long, Lord, how long?
4 Turn, Lord, and deliver me;
save me because of your unfailing love.
5 Among the dead no one proclaims your name.
Who praises you from the grave?
6 I am worn out from my groaning.
All night long I flood my bed with weeping
and drench my couch with tears.
7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
they fail because of all my foes.
8 Away from me, all you who do evil,
for the Lord has heard my weeping.
9 The Lord has heard my cry for mercy;
the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;
they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Sometimes, when I am praying, my thoughts veer off and go down the "rabbit hole" of speculation, scenarios, and philosophizing. This could be a distraction from prayer brought on by my own flesh, or it might be The Lord guiding me to hear His answer. I don't always know, but if I feel a "check" in my spirit, I know the LORD is telling me to readjust my thoughts and get my focus back on Him. I call this Praying/Thinking mind state "Prinking."
When "prinking" uncovers layers of meaning in Scripture, triggers a memory, or inspires a story to share in this Thread, it is a good thing, and I truly believe it to be a gift from God. If, however, prinking descends into worry, speculation, vengeful thoughts, or discouragement, then I KNOW it is not from God. The wisdom is, as usual, in knowing the DIFFERENCE.
At first glance, it would seem that David is being impatient with God. "How Long?" and "Why?" seem to be his complaining prayer. But, at the end of the prayer we see Trust and Patience.
If we can use Psalms as a format for our own prayers, we can see that God wants us to be honest with Him. He knows when we are lying anyway, so how much more despicable to Him would be a false, sanctimonious, hypocritical, prayer that hides one's true feelings, longings, and questions.
I believe in my heart that God is Faithful to hear the difference between Prayer and Perseverating, Prinking and Thinking, Meditating and Maundering, Sharing the Heart and Complaining.
Thank God for His Patience, Kindness, and Love!
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

Psalm 108
A Song. A Psalm of David.
1 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;*
I will sing and make melody.
Awake, my soul!*
2 Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn.
3 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples,
and I will sing praises to you among the nations.
4 For your steadfast love is higher than the heavens,
and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens,
and let your glory be over all the earth.
6 Give victory with your right hand, and answer me,
so that those whom you love may be rescued.
7 God has promised in his sanctuary:*
‘With exultation I will divide up Shechem,
and portion out the Vale of Succoth.
8 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim is my helmet;
Judah is my sceptre.
9 Moab is my wash-basin;
on Edom I hurl my shoe;
over Philistia I shout in triumph.’
10 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
11 Have you not rejected us, O God?
You do not go out, O God, with our armies.
12 O grant us help against the foe,
for human help is worthless.
13 With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.

I suppose it depends upon where the “prinking” takes you.
If it brings answers to your questions, and light to the darkness, it’s good.
If it distracts you from God, it’s ADD!
((((I empathize! I’ve been hyperactive since before I was born! LOL))))
