ROME, March 15, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – The Catholic Church cannot bless homosexual relationships, the Vatican declared today, calling such blessings “illicit.”
A question to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith about whether or not the Church has the “power to give the blessing to unions of persons of the same sex” was answered in the “negative” by the congregation’s prefect, Luis Cardinal Ladaria Ferrer. The congregation’s statement was assented to by Pope Francis. While the statement was signed Feb. 22, it was only released today.
The Congregation stated that it is “not licit to impart a blessing on relationships, or partnerships, even stable, that involve sexual activity outside of marriage (i.e., outside the indissoluble union of a man and a woman open in itself to the transmission of life), as is the case of the unions between persons of the same sex.”
“The presence in such relationships of positive elements, which are in themselves to be valued and appreciated, cannot justify these relationships and render them legitimate objects of an ecclesial blessing, since the positive elements exist within the context of a union not ordered to the Creator’s plan,” the statement read.
Blessings for homosexual couples has been especially pushed by Catholic Church leaders in Germany, such as Cardinal Reinhard Marx and other bishops who are part of the country’s “Synodal Path,” and have called for a blessing of such relationships liturgically.
The Catholic Church teaches that homosexuality is one of the four sins that cry to heaven for justice. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that “basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered’. They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved”.........

Oh that is going to leave a mark! The libs were so sure they had Pope Frank on their side.
Freedom is given to us by God. Marriage was ‘invented’ without God. So do we go with our freedom or what the Vatican says? I do believe the Vatican is people.
BREAKING: Vatican rejects blessings for homosexual couples
They got pressure big time from the conservative side. A schism can still happen.
I expect a retraction later today.
Let’s see if this sticks. I’m laying odds that this will be retracted (or apologized for) before too long.
There is a difference between free will and license. God gives us the free will to choose good or evil, but that does not mean the choices we make will not have consequences.
The congregation’s statement was assented to by Pope Francis.
Wow, is this the same Francis?
Sue them.
Maybe Milo triggered him?
Could be that the Pope has resumed reading Gods word as Gods word.
Marriage was ‘invented’ without God.
marriage has a lot of different meanings to a lot of people.
But a quick historical review. Marriage used to be the provenance of the church. Napoleonic law in the early 1800’s took it away from the church and put it under the control of the state.
So for worldly people. the RC position means nothing except an irritation that they will eventually get rid of.
It shouldn’t be news, but, alas, it is. Let’s face the sad reality. The German hierarchy has been overtly pushing for approval of sodomy and same-sex “marriage.” Liberal priests like Father Jim Martin SJ, as well as rising-star American prelates like Tobin, Soupy, McElroy, Gregory et al. have been all in on “supporting” LGBT. So, yes, the pushback is news. I guess the question is why? The Bergoglian game thus far has been to refuse to explicitly support Catholic doctrine while hinting at potential changes (”listening for signs of the times,” “embracing new things,” etc). So why did they do this? And why now? Did some of the Muslim clerics talk some sense into Bergoglio on his Iraq trip? Or perhaps the Vatican’s ChiCom benefactors, who aren’t fans of the LGBT subculture in their own country, call for this? One wonders...
The Pope is confirming the Biblical teaching that marriage is a lifetime union between one man and one woman. Same sex marriage, marriage where one or both parties have been divorced, those are not marriages in the eyes of the Church and my hope is that it will always be that way.
Did you never read the owner’s manual given to us by God?
Try Genesis 2:21-2
Then the Lord God cast a deep sleep upon Adam: and when he was fast asleep, he took one of his ribs, and filled up flesh for it. [22] And the Lord God built the rib which he took from Adam into a woman: and brought her to Adam. [23] And Adam said: This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man. [24] Wherefore a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be two in one flesh.
Wow.... the Catholic church did something right.... followed the Word of God who created MAN AND WOMAN!
Didn’t I see a post that the Vatican was strapped for cash? Herein may be the reason for his rejection. Money talks.
RE: BREAKING: Vatican rejects blessings for homosexual couples
I don’t know why this is supposed to be BREAKING news.
It would be like saying: BREAKING: The Pope says he believes the Bible
