Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Lambs, Sheep, and Shepherds

Psalm 3

Psalm 3[a]
A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.

1 Lord, how many are my foes!
     How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
     “God will not deliver him.”[b] 3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
     my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
     4 I call out to the Lord,
         and he answers me from his holy mountain.

    

5 I lie down and sleep;
         I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
     6 I will not fear though tens of thousands
         assail me on every side.

     7 Arise, Lord!
         Deliver me, my God!
     Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
         break the teeth of the wicked.
 
     8 From the Lord comes deliverance.
         May your blessing be on your people.

Our Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be Name!
You Alone Are Worthy to be Praised and Worshiped,
for You Alone Are the One True God,
From Everlasting to Everlasting,
All Seeing and All Knowing,
Righteous, Just and Holy,
Slow to anger,
And abounding in tender mercies.
With Our Whole Soul Our Whole Mind,
Our Whole Strength, and Our Whole Being,
We Bow Down before You!

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,

To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Exactly one year ago today, my state went into Lockdown. Now, even though other states have opened up, my state stays masked and separated, glum and miserable. A year ago I came home from work to a little bag hanging on my front door. In it was a decorated cupcake. Layla, a neighbor's child named after an Eric Clapton song, had baked cupcakes and gave them out to all the old ladies in the community. The cupcake had blue frosting (food coloring) and sparkles on top. I ate it, and hoped the lockdown would be only 15 Days long, as promised.

Last night I came home from shopping with my sister, and there was a little bag hanging on my front door. It was a cupcake with blue frosting and sparkles on top. Evidently Layla was trying to "Ease my troubled mind" on the first anniversary of the lockdown. I am sure she does not know that today is also an anniversary, the tenth, of my husband's suicide.

And, "Layla" was his favorite song.

Psalm 3 is a song that David composed while on the run from his own son, Absalom. The worst anguish that people suffer is that which comes from friends and family. The feelings of betrayal, abandonment, and agony are unbearable when they are caused by someone we love.

And yet, David's Song is one of hope and comfort. He sings that God is a shield for him, his Glory, and the Lifter of his head.

And so, to paraphrase "Layla", David sings:

Lord, you got me on my knees.
Lord, I beg You, Savior, please,
Lord, Savior won't you ease,
My Troubled Mind.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
