I could add several more exceptions, but they would be subjective and probably get me banned from Free Republic......

The translation is more accurately phrased as “Thou shalt not murder,” rather than “Thou shalt not kill.”
Big difference.

I believe it falls under “ Killing in a Just War”. Or maybe “ The Killing of Animals” or even “ Capital Punishment”. Lots of ways to view it. I go with just war ideology.

Amazing, how so many Catholics would overlook these instructions in order to put forward their social views.

Agreed. Was DOD asking Abraham to murder Isaac?

“The murder of unborn children for scientific research in the development of quentionable vaccines is permissible for the “greater good” of “god’s peoples”!”
Where did that happen?

Bad spelling correction. My mistake.

Sorry Leftards...
Exodus 20:13 was/has been repeatedly mistranslated as “Thou shall not kill” when the correct translation is “Thou shall not murder”...
“Murder being the shedding of innocent blood; abortion other than to save the life of the mother being just one example...
Self defense, soldiers in battle, and executions of convicted murderers for example do not violate God’s commandment...

Believe the correct translation is: “You shall not murder.” The rest follows the correct translation - which the KJV was, in its day. Back then, “kill” was used for murder and “slay” was used for kill. Or so I’m told. Not an authority on 1600s English either.

The New American Standard translation of this commandment is “You shall not commit murder.” Which is in line with the interpretation given in this article.

It is not; “Thou shall not kill,” but rather, “Thou shall not murder.” A big difference, and in no need of any exception.

Just saying but I think it's "Thou shall not do murder" which basically is malice aforethought.
(double checked to see this was not Catholic Caucus)
