Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
For You Alone Are Worthy;
You Alone Are LORD;
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
We Come into Your Presence With Singing
And Into Your Courts With Praise,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Penny-The-Prancing-Pit-Bull and I love to hike. We have explored nearly all the woodland trails in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Although the Woods are lovely and full of wildlife, they are not "Virgin Forest" by any stretch of the imagination. Nearly all of the woodlands are reclaimed from farmland or industrial sites, as evidenced by ruins of mills, dikes, watercourses, and the ubiquitous Stone Walls. The Stone Walls criss-cross through the woods with no discernible pattern, and are usually no more than a foot high. Covered with moss and lichens, they testify to human activity in the area for 400 years. I really like the stone walls, and so, when I saw a book at the thrift store entitled "New England's Stone Walls", I grabbed it!

The book was written by a geologist, so the first several chapters were about the Earth's Crust, Magma, the Ice Age, Glaciers, and Rocks. New England has a lot of granite, which is very hard, but no match for a glacier. And so, the rocks get ground up, forced underground, brought back up by erosion, and sunk down again. This process is hastened by the breakup of topsoil by plowing, and so the colonial farmers would have a fresh crop of ROCKS every season as they migrated upward. (I have experienced that in my own little garden, and I've only been here five years.)

Frustrated farmers would carry or throw the rocks off to the side as they were plowing, and eventually these became a wall. The useless and annoying rocks that were lying all over the field, when gathered, have become an ecological treasure. The Rock Walls not only enhance the reclaimed Forest with their distinctive look, they also provide shelter and homes for wildlife and native plants. They probably will disappear eventually, but while they are here, we can enjoy them.

Due to historic cataclysms, God's People have been scattered all over the world. The Bible has many Passages about The "Ingathering", when all of those who love the One True God will be brought together. To many, this means the restoration of Israel to the Promised Land. To others, it means the Ingathering of all the Believers in the Last Days. (I think it refers to BOTH events, but that's just me.) Jesus describes this event as "One Flock with One Shepherd"(John 10:16).

What a Day That Will Be!

It is hilarious to me how slow the twelve apostles were to finally grasp that GENTILES would be part (not to mention the majority) of that great Ingathering. Not as slow as I was about the Gospel, but still slow. Sometimes those twelve strike me as an amalgamation of the Seven Dwarves plus the Three Stooges and Laurel & Hardy. I'd fit right in.

But I'm not so slow that I'd forget to append an enthusiastic "Amen!". Penny will approve, I'm sure.
