Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name over all the Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
We Worship You and You Alone.

Abba, Your Word is Healing and Life to Our Souls.
It is better to offer thanksgiving and praise
For what we have
And dwell in Your Spirit,
And in Your Righteousness,
Than to have an abundance of worldly goods,
And yet be empty in our souls,
Bitter, Contentious,
Quarreling and beset with strife.
For what do we profit,
If we gain the world,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

My sister and her husband went to Ireland a few years ago. Instead of doing the usual tourist route, they toured the countryside in a rented car, and found the village from which my great grandmother emigrated to Boston. They spent a lot of evenings in the Irish Pubs that are present in every town.

Although there are some private tables, the typical Irish Pub has a bench that goes all around the room. Sitting at a table means facing into the room and seeing the faces of all the other customers. Naturally, everybody talks to one another, rather than just with one's dinner partner. My sister ended up talking like an Irish person, without a particular word that pops up in Irish conversation that serves as a noun, a verb, an adjective, and an interjection. She didn't QUITE go that far! Ah I love the Irish!

Anyway, the Irish Pub embraces our human need to GATHER. Gathering, whether for political, social, religious, or even romantic reasons is the lifeblood of civilization. We humans NEED to gather. We even have names for those who refuse to gather, and they are not always complimentary. "Recluse", "Hermit", and "Loner" are just a few. One of the sad side effects of the COVID rules is the prohibition against gathering. It's starting to make me very cranky and irritable. "Cranky and irritable" I can deal with, but some people are getting depressed and suicidal. And THAT'S a REAL Problem.

God promises to "Gather" His People in the end. It is at that time that He will separate the sheep from the goats. May we who are reading this all be counted with the sheep!

Sad to say, but how happy I will be to be delivered from the sinful presence of all earthly goats and hellish demons, surrounded and facing (as in those pubs) only godly sheep from whom all obnoxiousness has been removed. Just one--but an important one!--of the many glorious benefits of eternal life under the Good Shepherd.

In the meantime, because those folk still reside and abide, it is needful to pray as you suggest, and so I do.
