Micah 5:14

A Promised Ruler From Bethlehem

5 [a]Marshal your troops now, city of troops,
    for a siege is laid against us.
They will strike Israel’s ruler
    on the cheek with a rod.

2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
    though you are small among the clans[b] of Judah,
out of you will come for me
    one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
    from ancient times.”

3 Therefore Israel will be abandoned
    until the time when she who is in labor bears a son,
and the rest of his brothers return
    to join the Israelites.

4 He will stand and shepherd his flock
    in the strength of the Lord,

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
How Blessed,
How Glorious,
How Wonderful,
Is Your Most Holy Name!
How Mighty and Perfect is Your Word,
And Your Promise,
Which You have allowed us a glimpse
into Your Perfect Will!
You, The Everlasting,
The Omnipotent,
The Immortal and Eternal,
Not Bound By Time or Space,
because You Created it,
Your Ways are not our ways,
And yet we hunger and thirst for You,
like a thirsty little deer panting in the forest,

In my personal devotional Bible readings, this particular Passage was today's reading in the "Prophets" section. Not only did it have to do with Sheep and Shepherds, but it is The Christmas Message! So I took a little detour from Jeremiah to share the fifth chapter of Micah with you.
