The Russian Orthodox Church is in no rush to recognize the authenticity of the remains of the Royal Martyrs found near Ekaterinburg, His Grace Bishop Evgeny of Ekaterinburg said at a press conference on Saturday.

Earlier, Evgeny Pchelov, an associate professor of the Historical and Archival Institute of the Russian Orthodox University for the Humanities who participated in the Russian Church’s historical and documentary examination of the remains found at Ganina Yama, told RIA-Novosti that the complex of studies confirmed the authenticity of the remains. As Pchelov explained, it was possible to restore a fairly complete picture of what happened in the days leading up and after the murder of the Royal Family. Some specific questions remained he said, but “the main picture is clarified.”

As early as July 2018, the Investigative Committee had already concluded that the remains are authentic.

“I was able to communicate with people from the investigative committee,” Bp. Evgeny said on Saturday. “There are quite a lot of arguments and evidence that these really are the royal remains. There are also so many questions that remain unanswered.”

And as Bp. Evgeny noted, Patriarch Kirill has said that the Church is in no hurry to make a certain decision by a certain date. “We will wait for these questions to be answered. They’re not some artifact,” Bp. Evgeny said.

“This is a matter of principle for us, these are holy people, these are people who have played a significant role in the spiritual life of our people and in the state, so the Church is not in a hurry,” the newly-appointed hierarch of Ekaterinburg said, adding that the Church will recognize the remains when “there is not an ounce of doubt.”

Since the resumption of the investigation in 2015, investigators have undertaken a wide......

Stories about what was involved in their execution start at horrible and escalate from there. Lenin did want them dead, but not right then.

I thought this was an authentic picture with the bullet holes in it from the execution, it is not. I wish I had not put it up.

If an Admin would remove it I would love it.

The first photo is of the Grand Duchess Maria, not the Czarina, who was born in 1872.

The official story is that the Whites were on the outskirts of Ekaterinburg, and were planning a raid to free them. So they were killed to avoid that happening.

I remember watching a video on Youtube from several years ago where the royal family had been found and was interred with the other Romanovs. It was a state funeral in Moscow in 1998. Was that not valid? Was this proven to be incorrect?

If you read the article 5 bodies have been placed in a sepulcher in St. Petersburg. 2 bodies found in a separate grave believed to be Alexei and Maria have not. The question is probably the identity of the remaining two who still have not been placed or ID’d positively.

Russians were scum as monarchists, scum as communists, and scum as a Republic. Thankfully, they are a dying society economically and socially (I hope). —- Signed a (half) Pole

very interesting you posted this...just last week I watched, for the first time, “Nicholas and Alexandra”, the Academy-Award winning film from 1971 that told (partially and with Hollywood-style compression) their story.

I could sense the “Vietnam” influence in some of the dialogue, and the uneasiness with religion in the way they portrayed Rasputin...but overall, it was an interesting film.

Oh I realized that ... and thank you for posting them! I had only seen them in black and white before.

Such a beautiful family. And from everything I’ve read about them, they were kind, compassionate, and as much like a regular family as it was possible for them to be. I remember reading that the Empress Alexandra loved lilacs. She and my mother would have gotten along great for that reason.

What happened to them was such an atrocity. No doubt the Bolsheviks who brought it to pass are paying the heaviest of prices.

Understandable, but their Republic hasn’t yet attacked your old country, at least not yet.
