Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 77

For the director of music. For Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm.

1 I cried out to God for help;
    I cried out to God to hear me.
2 When I was in distress, I sought the Lord;
    at night I stretched out untiring hands,
    and I would not be comforted.

3 I remembered you, God, and I groaned;
    I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.[b]
4 You kept my eyes from closing;
    I was too troubled to speak.
5 I thought about the former days,
    the years of long ago;
6 I remembered my songs in the night.
    My heart meditated and my spirit asked:

7 “Will the Lord reject forever?
    Will he never show his favor again?
8 Has his unfailing love vanished forever?
    Has his promise failed for all time?
9 Has God forgotten to be merciful?
    Has he in anger withheld his compassion?”

10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal:
    the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
    yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
12 I will consider all your works
    and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

13 Your ways, God, are holy.
    What god is as great as our God?
14 You are the God who performs miracles;
    you display your power among the peoples.
15 With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
    the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

16 The waters saw you, God,
    the waters saw you and writhed;
    the very depths were convulsed.
17 The clouds poured down water,
    the heavens resounded with thunder;
    your arrows flashed back and forth.
18 Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
    your lightning lit up the world;
    the earth trembled and quaked.
19 Your path led through the sea,
    your way through the mighty waters,
    though your footprints were not seen.

20 You led your people like a flock
    by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Our Father In Heaven,
Holy and Sanctified is Your Most Wonderful Name!
You Alone Are Worthy;
You Alone Are LORD;
You Alone Are The Most High!
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham,
You Are The Ancient Of Days,
LORD of Hosts,
and Rock of All Ages,
Our Creator,
You Have Made Us,
and All That Is.

Your Loving Kindness Is from Everlasting To Everlasting.
Even When We Are Unfaithful,

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,

We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,

In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.

To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

This Psalm, which ends with a statement of God leading His people "like a flock", is a plea for a Miracle.

When everything is going fine, people don't plead for miracles. It is only when we have exhausted every last drop of our own strength, and have tried every solution and have failed, that we reach out to God and beg for Him to do something so MIRACULOUS, so outside of normal occurrences, That we can no longer take credit for it.

And yet, everything that happens every day is a miracle. No other planet has a moon that is just the right size to cause perfect tides. Scientists have even dubbed the location of Earth's orbit as "The Goldilocks Zone" (Just Right!) as well as the particular mix of elements that give us water and a very nice atmosphere. Every creature, chemical process, weather event, tide pool, and plant is a miracle, as is the DNA Molecule and the Galaxy.

But, sometimes we need a (Capital M) MIRACLE. That's when God steps in and does something Supernatural (ABOVE Nature).

Right now, I am praying for a Miracle for my Country.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

I am pleased to learn not only of your deep faith, eager helpfulness and good looks, but also of your awareness of the arguments for God's fine-tuning, cumulatively constituting compelling evidence for His design of creation.

I have been a devoted disciple of Christian minister, evangelist and astrophysicist Dr. Hugh Ross, founder and President of Reasons to Believe, for over forty years. He maintains an ever-growing hierarchical list of (currently) 1,466 finely-tuned parameters necessary for the prolonged existence of globally-distributed high-technology life: 140 features of the cosmos as a whole, 402 quantifiable characteristics of a planetary system and its galaxy, and a further 922 characteristics of a galaxy and of a planetary system divided into three parts, based on differing requirements for various life-forms and their duration.

Here is my favorite:

Water vapor, H₂O, has an atomic weight of 18 [2 Hydrogen atoms @ 1 each and 1 Oxygen atom @ 16 each = (2x1) + (1x16) = 2+16 = 18]

Methane gas, CH₄, has an atomic weight of 16 [1 Carbon atom @ 12 each and 4 Hydrogen atoms @ 1 each = (1x12) + (4x1) = 12+4 = 16]

Ever notice that water vapor rises and rises as clouds, but it never actually escapes into outer space? (Well, a miniscule percentage does, but that outflux is exactly balanced by the daily influx of water-laden comets--another design feature.) Anyway, God made the earth just massive enough to retain its water, at atomic weight 18.

Here is the point: He made the earth just small enough not to retain its methane, all those cow farts, at atomic weight 16. Take a deep breath of fresh air!
