Washington, D.C. Newsroom, Nov 13, 2020 / 11:30 am MT (CNA).- Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has spoken of his concern that religious liberty is under threat in the United States. The justice spoke out on Thursday about a range of issues which, he said, were challenging basic legal freedoms in the country.
The justice warned that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic was acting as a stress test for Constitutional liberties, and that religious liberty as an emerging disfavored and second tier right.
Alito made the comments on Nov. 13, in a Zoom presentation to the Federalist Societys annual conference. The Federalist Societys website describes the group as an organization of 60,000 lawyers, law students, scholars, and other individuals who believe and trust that individual citizens can make the best choices for themselves and society.
Alito has been a member of the Federalist Society for many years, and has previously addressed its conferences.
The pandemic has obviously taken a heavy human toll, said Alito. Thousands dead, many more hospitalized, millions unemployed, the dreams of many small business owners dashed. But what has it meant for the rule of law?
Alito went on to say that his sentiments would likely be twisted or misunderstood, but that he believed the pandemic has had a clear impact on liberty.
The pandemic has resulted in previously unimaginable restrictions on individual liberty, said Alito.
The justice said that he was not offering a commentary on the severity of the coronavirus, and he was not suggesting that all the restrictions taken to control the spread of the virus were necessarily illegal or bad public policy.

the fact is america was not founded and created as a secular country
that america never existed
countries that wprship the one true God prosper and thrive
The ones that do not and/or turn away from the one true God, decay and are are reduced to shadows of themselves
Sadly most young people today are atheists.
Thanksgiving is a religious holiday. Yet Governors and officials throughout the country are discouraging and, in some places, demanding that Americans give up their Constitutional right to Freedom of Religion. Americans do not like being told what to do. Convince me, don’t tell me.
Really like Alito more nd more
And thus, why America is such a threat to the new world order orwellian totalitarians.
I feel the LORD YESUA is exasperated by this country. You can’t kill 50 million babies, and avoid judgement, and woe when us judgement comes.
Our liberties and rights are not granted by the Constitution but are guaranteed by it, because those liberties and rights are granted to us by the Creator and are ours by our nature as human beings. That used to be a well-known concept. I heard Justice Ginsberg herself talk about it.
If society some day determines, for example, that religious positions contrary to the LGBTQ agenda are bigoted, that is precisely the point at which protection of those religious beliefs should kick in. Popular ideas don’t require constitutional protection, but unpopular ideas do.
That is what should happen in America but if that goes by the wayside, then scripture provides clear guidance for Christians: “we must obey God rather than man.”
they’ve been groomed by a godless socialist network of communists in America who run our schools and brainwash our kids-

Convince me, dont tell me.
They can’t convince you so they don’t bother to try...JUST DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD!
Many young people believe in crystals, astrology, etc. which means the desire for something more is still there, but they think they are too smart and advanced for that God and morality stuff. It both saddens and amuses me.
