“Messianic Jews” in my understanding is Jewish folks who believe in Messiah, the Anointed One, Son of David, the One of Whom the prophets have spoken. Believing that Jesus fulfilled these prophesies doesn’t make them non-Jews. Being Jewish is their birthright, no matter who they believe is the Messiah. Even atheists are still Jews, despite their unbelief.

Go to Du, where you belong.
I dont think we disagree.
Although Jewish people would simply call such Jews heretics.
There is another group of self-proclaimed messianic Jews who are gentiles and who adopt a fair number of Jewish practices, who are probably the larger group. Sometimes they are honest about who they are; sometimes not.
If you are confused, feel comforted by the fact that this definitional dispute was the matter of an Israeli Supreme Court opinion. Very hotly contested, as it had to do with immigration.
Me too. I understand he is doing it for marketing purposes, to separate himself from the pack so he gets a wider swathe of Republicans or even non Republicans in his audience. But it’s downright annoying. He turns me off, so I turn him off.
....
Agree 100% with everything you said!
No, it’s only that Ben, like MOST Torah-observant, Orthodox Jews, is not an expert in refuting missionary claims. Guaranteed.
This is exactly the rabbi’s point in objecting to sitting down with a pastor in the first place.
Ben is not a Torah scholar or teacher... he’s a layman in general terms, regarding Jewish law, and not prepared to showcase himself as “the Jewish point of view.”
Now, for a real treatment of Isaiah 53:

I have asked you to observe caucus rules. You have not. Though it may be the Moderators don't think this thread qualifies as a "caucus" thread because of some of Rabbi Reuven's remarks.
According to the "new testament" and chrstianity, J*sus is "the one of whom the prophets spoke." But nowhere in the Hebrew Bible does it say it's talking about J*sus. Perhaps you have difficulty understanding that there are actually people in the world who know about but reject chrstianity and the "new testament" (such as this writer, a former chrstian).
The idea that merely quoting the "new testament" or chrstian claims proves the truth of those claims to people to whom the NT is no different from the "book of mormon" is really annoying. I assume it comes from the culture that insists on all chrstians being "adult converts" even though they have believed in chrstianity from the cradle. Usually, if enough "new testament" verses are quoted to these "non-chrstians," they will "be saved." But you do not seem to understand that not all non-chrstians believe in chrstianity. In fact, the idea that one can believe in chrstianity but not be a chrstian until some sort of spine-tingling religious experience occurs is pretty much limited to American evangelicalism.
You would find that parachuting onto the Sentinel Islands and merely quoting the "new testament" non-stop for a few days is not going to get anywhere. They aren't "non-chrstians" who already believe in chrstianity but merely need to have the "born again" experience.
I wish more evangelicals understood this. It seems very few of them do.
Got us another one!
You are a leftist pretending to be conservative. Revelation 3:9.
Honestly Sometimes I wonder if Schapiro is a genius or simply a fool. He is wicked smart that’s for sure.
Woo hoo! Fake Christians / Fake Jews comin’ out of the woodwork! I love it!
Let’s hope they start trying to speak Hebrew. Let’s see if they say “Yeshua!” I love it when they do that.
C’mon “cowboyusa!” Say “Yeshua Ha’Melech!” Can you do “Mohammad Ha’Melech?”
Who made you a Jew? Your Mommy or a self-help book?
Shalom, fellow “Jew!”
I listen to Ben’s hour-long podcast. I find him very insightful. He does take digs at Trump, but they usually center around Trump’s unnecessary tweeting which hurts Trump while he should be winning this election by a mile. I don’t love all of Ben’s criticisms, but I also do think Trump makes it harder on himself.
Some of us don’t care a whit about Little Ben’s religious ideas but his political posturing does catch our attention.
And that includes his 2016 tag team effort with the voluptuous Michelle Fields to drive a stake through the Trump candidacy by charging campaign manager Corey Lewandowski with assault. If you had any doubts about Little Ben being a weasel that should have taught you that he is.
You are not alone!
Are you aware that the Romans shared your plagiaristic pagan philosophy as well as your notion of discreetly bowing down from time to time?
Go for it and, when you’re not on your knees, ride ‘em, “cowboy!”
Levity schmevity. Sounded more like dispepsia to me.
