I think you are confusing bail reform in liberal cities with parole reform. Big difference.
No. Parole is early release from prison, contingent upon a promise of lawful behavior for a determined period of time. Those that abuse the system risk return to prison to finish their sentence. It sets up a circumstance where a minor offense can cost the parolee years in prison. It motivates them to either straighten up and fly right, or avoid arrest by whatever means are at hand. From what I’ve seen lately, it should be eliminated. I’m reminded of a case (in California, I believe) of an idiot who was looking at a life sentence under a three-strikes law. His crime: stealing a slice of pizza. Some people are too stupid to be on the street.
