Pope Francis Will Not Receive Pompeo in His Visit to Italy

According to experts, relations between the Vatican and the U.S. have experienced an extraordinary hardening in recent days

Pope Francis Sunday announced that he will not receive the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who will visit Italy next week, because "that could influence the U.S. election campaign."

Although in October 2019, The Pope received Pompeo at the Vatican, the Holiness assured that "on this occasion, I will not meet with political personalities amid electoral campaigns to avoid any kind of manipulation."

According to experts, relations between the Vatican and the U.S. have experienced an extraordinary hardening in recent days.

The Pope's refusal came after Washington criticized a China and the Vatican's agreement renewal regarding the appointment of Chinese Catholic bishops.

"Two years ago, the Holy See reached an agreement with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), hoping to help China's Catholics. Yet the CCP’s abuse of the faithful has only gotten worse. " Pompeo tweeted last week.

The Holy See "should renounce to the agreement since it would jeopardize its moral authority," he added.

On September 29 and 30, Pompeo will visit Italy to attend a symposium on the advancement and defense of religious freedom organized by the U.S. Embassy in the European country.

So? The Vatican is its own country. It’s not part of Italy.

He also refused to meet with Cardinal Zen last week, even though Cdl Zen (88 yrs old) had made the trip specifically to meet with him.

Bergoglio is arrogan and, I seriously believe, evil.

Because the Church made a deal with Mussolini, in exchange for looking the other way at Mussolini's crimes.

Pompeo wanted to discuss the Vatican’s mystery “agreement” with China, which is due to be renewed this week. Nobody except Bergoglio and a couple of henchmen - Parolin and, until a few days ago, Becciu - even knows what’s in it.

“Why do Catholics put up with his bullshit?”

Many of us don’t. Francis is the worst pope of my life time by far (I’ll be 70 on my next birthday). The College of Cardinals really screwed up by choosing him, and if that is where the Church wants to be, it can do it without me. There are LOTS of Catholics — including some clergy — who believe that Francis is hell-bent on destroying the Church.

The Church started its decline with Vatican II, and aside from Pope John Paul II and perhaps Benedict, it has been headed south ever since. It isn’t so much that I left the Church as it is the Church left me. I will adhere to “the old Church.”

It’s funny that Francis, a devoted Marxist, should be the head of something that Marxism wants to destroy. Trojan horse?

I guess Francis doesn’t like all those Mid-East peace agreements worked out by Pomeo.

Yes. Far be it for a “Christian” to use his position of influence to be influential.

“Not meeting with him is an attempt to influence US politics.”

Precisely.

So...what is the Pope’s history for meeting with political personalities amid electoral campaigns? Hmm?

Pope Francis Sunday announced that he will not receive the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who will visit Italy next week, because "that could influence the U.S. election campaign."

At least the man knows how to learn a simple lesson.

Once burned twice shy. Remember this, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE SOUTH CAROLINA PRIMARY??

Donald Trump has feuded with other candidates, reporters and TV networks during his run for president.

Now, the front-runner for the Republican nomination is feuding with Pope Francis.

On Thursday, the pontiff criticized Trump for the proposal at the heart of his campaign: a pledge to keep people from crossing into the United States illegally by building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

"I'd just say that this man is not Christian if he said it in this way," Francis told reporters in a midflight press conference after a trip to Mexico.

"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian," Francis said, according to The Associated Press' translation of the press conference.

I honestly believe that of all the people in the world, the one who did the most to give us Donald Trump as president was Pope Francis, He basically gave Trump a Catholic anti-imprimatur just before the Republican primary in the most evangelical State, where evangelical Ted Cruz was favored to win.

When we get to the part of the Mass where we are asked to pray for the Pope, I make my prayer a prayer of thanksgiving.

Deo Gratias!
