Despite the influence of religion in Iraqi politics, recent studies show that young people in Iraq are increasingly identifying as secularist.

According to Arab Barometer, the percentage of Arabs who describe themselves as "not religious" in the six countries polled — Iraq, Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt and Libya — now stands at 13%, up from 8% in 2013. In 2013, around 51% of the respondents said they trusted their religious leaders to a "great" or "moderate" extent. In 2018, that number was down to 40%.

That’s great. In another 20 years only 70% of them will want to kill us. That’s if the information here is correct. I’ve never heard of whomever is coming up with these numbers and they don’t have any actual numbers for Iraq on who is secular and who is non secular as a percentage.

Every now and then a crop of articles come up trying to show that Islam is on the decline big time in muslim countries. And it is always propaganda or nonsense.

In the case of Iran:
- The numbers are more in the range of 70% who do NOT want to attack the USA or Israel in any way. They do want to fight the Islamic state in Iraq and are anti-Saudi heavily.
- this matched with the number of secular folks in Iran.

In the case of Iraq
- the number of those who want to kill Americans in the USA are similar to Iran. They, however, don’t want American troops any more in Iraq (which is in parallel to what America wants, so a win-win)
- the number of secular folks is lower than Iran, but the numbers indicate 20% or so.

As to “Islam is on the decline in muslim countries”
- It depends WHERE and what you mean by decline

1. Where - in Iran, Iraq, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey and even the gulf states the young are sick of Islam and are leaving. Mostly to atheism, but some to Christianity and Zoroastrianism.
In Pakistan on the other hand the number of adherents to Islam is increasing.
In India the number of ex-Muslims is increasing.
In Bangladesh it seems about the same, neither increasing nor decreasing
In Indonesia it is increasing as in Malaysia

2. WHAT?
- the number of terrorists are increasing as Mohammadens are realziing that the only way to keep the Muslims in line is with violence.
- the political Islam is on the decline everywhere except in Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia. Political Islam is declining in Iran, in Egypt, in Tunisia, in Morocco, even to some extent in Turkey (which is why Erdogan is desperately trying to curry affections by converting the HAgia sophia and by his adventures in Syria)

TBH I think the risk of a Muslim takeover is exaggerated. Secularism is hitting the Muslim world as hard or harder than its hitting the Christian one. More likely libtardation will be the threat mankind has to face down in the future.
