City Attorney Says Archdiocese of San Francisco is Holding Illegal Gatherings, Putting Community at Risk

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco's city attorney is coming down hard on Catholic Churches that he says are gathering illegally indoors, without face coverings.

In a seven-page cease-and-desist letter, City Attorney Dennis Herrera said the Archdiocese of San Francisco is "putting its parishioners and the larger community at risk of serious illness and death."

The letter says despite calls between San Francisco Health Officer, Dr. Aragon, and Archbishop Cordileone, multiple churches have held indoor gatherings that "violate the health order" and fail to "follow common sense safety protocols."

Indoor gatherings are not currently permitted in San Francisco. Outside religious services and funerals are allowed with a 12-person limit.

Herrera's letter lists a number of complaints that were filed against churches, including St. Francis of Assisi and Saints Peter and Paul churches in North Beach, which reportedly held public masses in June.

An investigator from the City Attorney's Office says a priest without a mask held indoor masses at St. Mary of the Assumption in June.

The city attorney's letter also points out a YouTube link of mask-less Star of Sea priest giving a sermon inside, as well as Father Joseph Illo's blog that shows photos of church leaders and parishioners leading processions through their Richmond District neighborhood without face coverings.

We already had an outbreak here because of a priest illegally meeting with the congregation in violation of social distancing mandates. Eighteen people and the priest sick, one in hospital, and many more now quarantined.

Back to the catacombs. This is the smaller more vibrant Church Pope Benedict spoke about.

City Attorneys are subverting the rule of law by writing it like little kings instead of interpreting it and are putting the whole Nation at risk.

The solution to self made kings are involuntary lead vaccinations. Let’s not go there... last time we did the death toll made Covid look like a kindergartner.

How would it be illegal? By what law is it forbidden? All I have heard about is decrees. Most of the country has been ruled by decree for four months. What is legal about any of it? much less Constitutional?

The Catholic bishops of the U.S. should ask themselves, what would Archbishop “Dagger John” Hughes do? He stood up forcefully against the Know Nothings in antebellum New York, warning them that if Protestant mobs burned Catholic churches, the Catholics would turn the city into another Moscow, referring to the burning of that city during the Napoleonic Wars.

Men much better than you gave their blood and lives so you could be free, and all you know how to do is whine about the common cold.

Such a pussy. You embarrass yourself.

Funny - priest and same number of infected. But it’s common sense to accept, if you’re sitting seat-to-seat with a large group of people for at least an hour, that it’s no great surprise if you catch whatever’s going around.

Put a mask over your face and forget to breath for a few minutes. You’ll be safe that way..

Where does the Constitution make the Bill of Rights conditional upon the whims of wannabe dictators? Religious gatherings are inviolate.

San Francisco. One of the rat cities that had no issue with hundreds of people rioting and burning buildings a few weeks back. Now they’re going to put their boot down on church worship. Makes sense.
