Not even close. The catholic church was a historic cover for child molesters and worse. After I thought about the facts that were being presented in courts and “catholic” news articles, the pattern was clear. The catholic church is corrupt from the Vatican down to the pews. It was a consistent conspiracy so I just pulled the rip-cord and took the church out of my life. No church. Went back to the god I could believe in.

Most catholics I know who left see the church as a corrupt gay institution. They will not be back.

I know that I’m going to get trashed by some here, and that’s OK (I respect their opinions), but to me the Catholic Church is truly the universal church, and at its core are the teachings of Christ - not the rules and bylaws of the Vatican. If the Pope threw me out of the Church, I would not be distraught, and would take my chances with God. Further, I wouldn’t think of myself as any less of a Catholic.

Just put things back as they were under Pope Saint Pius X.

Everything, exactly as it was.

Monsignor Barr is very plainspoken, observant and in my view, realistic. It was good to read his opinion on this looming topic. Perhaps I will look online to find other writings by this Monsignor.

I do recall thinking I wish my local church had a small club to renew the sacraments or at least study what they meant.
When I passed my catechism requirements, I was but a first or second grader. I relied mainly on rote memory, almost memorizing lines in a play. Last time I looked (St. Isabella in San Rafael, Ca, did not offer any such class for single adults. Nothing to do with any ‘renewing’ or restudying.

*Third, they have to sit apart from people. *

For me, this is my problem, and I know it shouldn’t be, but it is. I’m not allowed to sit next to my husband. Everybody is 6 feet apart. Everybody. All families, so now there are only a few with young families attending. It’s unpleasant. It’s cold. It’s impersonal.

I can’t go like this. I will have to keep looking for a Catholic Church where I can sit next to my husband at Mass. We live in a house together. We eat together, We sleep together. We are intimate. But for some unknown ridiculous reason, we cannot sit next to each other at Mass at our once wonderful little church.

I can’t deal with it this way. It’s Mass on TV until I can find a parish that will let me sit next to my husband. This is insane. I’m sorry, Jesus. I know I should get past this. Please help our priests see that we just want a few “normal” things like getting to sit with family members.

With the registrations and all, IMHO, this is a contact tracing trap that may put a lot of Catholics in quarantine.

The problem with the Catholic church is Rome. It has become political and has abandoned its own teachings. It is rotting from the head down under our present quasi Marxist pope. It is really that simple.

Pope John Paul was a pope to be admired. Not so is the present pope. He is destroying my past church.

UNLESS...... we do something. And it’s up to the bishops to do it. I know I get on their case. Like I said, they are good men, but to my knowledge very few, if any, have developed the catechesis necessary to bring the faithful back to Mass.

It will happen at my Church — Catholic, no less.

Music is a lost cause unless you have a priest or bishop who is knowledgeable about what is suitable music, and also a passion for teaching that to the resistant “music ministers” and their supporters. Uphill battle few can make.

While I respect the authority of the Catholic Church and the Pope, the church really needs the authority of the Holy Spirit to clean up and address what is going on.

The heresies and schisms. The lack of follow thru and courage in addressing such issues.

https://catholicfamilynews.com/blog/2019/04/30/pope-francis-publicly-accused-of-the-crime-of-heresy-bishops-of-the-world-called-upon-to-act/

https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/5983408/Open-Letter-to-the-Bishops-of-the-Catholic.pdf

The letters of Archbishop Vigano and others.

The silence of the Bishops is deafening. We need strong moral leadership and not the ways of the world.

There has already been a decline in Mass attendance, Only 20-25% of parish members regularly attend weekly Mass. The government mandates have scared the elderly from attending Mass. So many are listening to online Masses and other Catholic programs.

We need to pray that all see the benefits of being close to Jesus in the Mass and the Eucharist.

And heed the words of Jesus: “Be not afraid.”

Re:”evangelization by the laity for the laity”

A Christian’s **most** important duty is the evangelization of their own children.

The majority of Christian denominations fail miserably when they send their children into the godless, Marxist-run, government schools.

Catholic Church lost their moral authority and solemn reverence for the your soul above the secular physical world in which we live.

We used to care more about your immortal soul than about our lives on this rock which are finite.

Our time on this Earth was treated as an opportunity to help other souls find their way and to sustain each other together in Christ.

Now the Church Panders to Society and plays politics.

I have never wanted to go to Mass with the potential of hearing anything that smacks of politics. That being said, I find it very difficult to define myself as a “devout” Catholic, when we are dealing with a socialist, Jesuit (spit) pope. In addition, I have been incensed that Catholic Charities donations have been going to the assistance of illegal immigrants and their relocation into the United States. The totality of my donations to my church for the past year consist of contributions to the cause of removing and replacing the roof of the church. The bishop or the pope get none of it. Any future contribution will be to the betterment of the physical structure of the parish church.
