The guidelines specifically referred to Redemptionis Sacramentum, an instruction published by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in 2004. According to the document, “each of the faithful always has the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue.”

Communion in our local churches are passed out by memebers of the congregation. Like everything in the Catholic church, everything has changed so much...it’s slowly losing its meaning. And this pope doesn’t help.

My memory may be fuzzy, but I could swear priests used to wear (cloth) gloves.

This is probably profane but a long line of parishioners with one priest with or without gloves doesn’t sound sanitary for hard hit parishes. So is there any chance they could use a hydrogen peroxide fogger in lieu of swinging the incense around? I mean if the idea is supposed to be purification.

Many times I have received communion where the priest used tongs. And every person used an individual cup.

Our EMEs are not to wear gloves but must wash hands immediately before and after. All parishioners must cup their hands so it can be dropped in them without touching the parishioner.

Not just profaning the Eucharist - if anything, gloves protect the priest but not all the next recipients in line.

Isn’t telling the amount of focus that is put on the handling of the Eucharist and absolutely zero attention paid to making a Confession and being in a state of worthiness through heartfelt repentance?

Defiling has many forms.... some more important than others......
