Tim Tebow struggled to hold back tears as he spoke about the impact Ravi Zacharias' ministry has had on his life after learning that no other treatment options are available for the minister's advanced stage of cancer.
Zacharias has been battling a rare form of bone cancer since March and was recently informed by doctors that theres nothing more they can do.
On Friday, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries shared a health update from Sarah Davis, CEO of RZIM and Zacharias' daughter, who informed the ministry's global staff about her father's condition. We have just learned that while the tumor in my dads sacrum has been responding to the chemotherapy, the area where the cancer metastasized has actually worsened, Davis wrote. His oncologist informed us that this cancer is very rare in its aggression and that no options for further treatment remain. Medically speaking, they have done all they are able.
After learning about Zacharias condition, Tebow shared a heartfelt message on Instagram about the impact Zacharias has had on his life and asked that others who've also been impacted by his ministry join him in sharing how he's helped them.
"I think it's really important in life to have heroes, and especially in the faith, and one of my heroes of the faith is a man named Ravi Zacharias. He's not doing very well, the former NFL quarterback-turned-Minor League Baseball player said.
So one, I would like to ask you to be praying for him. And two, I know Ravi has inspired me and millions of people around the world, so if he's someone that has inspired you, I would like for you to please write a sweet caption on this, because I would love to be able to show this to him and his team, Tebow said.
The 2007 Heisman trophy winner is hoping to put together a montage of messages for Zacharias to read while he's back home with his family in Atlanta, Georgia, enjoying whatever time the Lord grants him.
"I'm so grateful for Ravi and his life and our friendship and everything that he has helped mentor me in, Tebow said. I just want to share so many of these stories, how hes touched your life, how he's touched my life, to be able to encourage him before he goes home to his forever home with his Heavenly Father.
"He will definitely be in the hall of faith, and we're just so grateful for his life, for his impact, for his ministry, he added.
Zacharias first revealed he had bone cancer in a Facebook post back in March where he announced that doctors had discovered a cancerous tumor on the sacrum, a cancer called sarcoma.
"We are trusting the Lord in this, and we believe we have already seen evidence of His hand, he said at the time.
Yes Ive only seen a few of Zacharias things but I know he has had tremendous impact on some fiends of mine. Prayers.
Prayers.
And that was a beautiful tribute by Tebow.
There would be no greater reward possible than to be before the Lord at the Bema Seat and hear Him declare to you, “Well done, good and faithful servant”. I expect that to be the case with Ravi.
Ravi is a truly extraordinary man with as much wisdom as I could imagine a man could have.
I would strongly encourage all to watch this brief video from one of the many forums Ravi did. You can witness his brilliance on display as he is questioned by an unbelieving young man.
At least watch the first 45 seconds.

Love watching Ravi Zacharias taking questions on YouTube! Hes brilliant and a wonderful Christian apologist.
Forgive me for stating it, but seems like every time I hear about Tebow this year, the story involves him crying about something. A few weeks ago, one of his dogs died. So he posted photos of that tragedy. Now this.
I hope things go well with Tim and is wife. Maybe tell us when they are expecting a baby. Or just wait till the child is born.
I didnt even know that Ravi Zacharias was ill. I used to listen to him in the car when I was living someplace sort of remote and had to drive a lot. He was a wonderful evangelist and scholar. Prayers for him.
Watch later
I don’t sleep well and often wake in the middle of the night. It’s very frustrating but one thing that soothes me is if I go to the a.m. Christian station and hear Ravi on giving a message. He’s such a beautiful man truly made in the image of God.
Tebow is the real thing. He really did visit sick children in hospitals. I wish so much he would have been successful in pro football. It so badly needs a good example like Tebow.
Maybe someone could contact Mr. Zacharias and tell him there is still hope. There is a man named Joe Tippens who had lung cancer and was sent home to die. His body was riddled with tumors everywhere. He was told by a friend that there is a cheap, easily available drug that appears to knock out cancer. He had nothing left to lose so he spent his remaining time researching it. Long story short, Mr. Tippens is alive and well today and he is trying to spread the word of his survival story to anyone who will listen. Here is a youtube link to an interview that he did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WxiPf-NEDk.
Prayers up for Ravi.
Tim was smart to leave pro football with his body, brain and inner spirit all still going strong. Think of those like Mark Gastineau. Early Onset Dementia, starting at age 61. Soon to be followed by parkinsons’. It’s very likely, his time as a pro football player brought these conditions on.
All the cumulative damage.
I’ve heard Ravi in person several times and actually got to meet him many years ago before he became so well know.
He actually spoke on two separate occasions at a church I attended when I first became a Christian.
His brilliance in Christian apologetics as always been breath taking. He is truly a man blessed and used by God.
I agree, he is remarkable.
Ravi is possibly the foremost Christian Apologetics warrior of our age. He taught this old man that we are all leaving soon, alive or dead, departed with and when our Lord calls us out. Ravi’s Apologetics had a very real impact on my life and understanding of the urgency to reach out to others. I look forward to meeting him in the clouds ....
This news tears at my heart.
Wow. Zacharias has cancer? That’s very sad. He’s the best! We’ll put him on our prayer list along with Rush.
