Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)
Hebrew Worship Words
Chagag
1 Samuel 30:16-17
He led David down, and there they were, scattered over the countryside, eating, drinking and reveling because of the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from Judah. 17 David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled.
Exodus 5:1
Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the wilderness.
Leviticu 23:39
So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to the Lord for seven days; the first day is a day of sabbath rest, and the eighth day also is a day of sabbath rest.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent Is Your Name Over All The Earth!
How Mighty,
How Majestic,
and How Wonderful!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise and Worship,
For You Alone Are the Most High,
Ancient of Days,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer,
Our Refuge and Our Strength!
You Are the Creator of All Things,
And Yet, Even In Your Omnipotence,
You Give us the Privilege of Calling Out To You,
"Abba, Father!"
LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.
We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

When I was in Kindergarten in a Boston Public School, we were taught to dance in a circle. There were huge circles painted on the schoolyard, and we would dutifully line up, hold hands, and dance the Chardas, or the Hora, or some other folk dance. Sometimes we would even do something AMERICAN like a simplified Square Dance, but the folk dancing seemed to have a preponderance of Soviet Bloc or Middle Eastern Dances, except, of course, the Pagan Maypole Dance in the Spring. My younger brother Tom, who was as cranky then as he is now 60 years later, refused to participate. All through the Maypole Festival he sat next to the piano player with a deep scowl on his face. Someone sitting near my Mom exclaimed, "Oh look at that poor little crippled boy who can't join in the dancing!"
"He's NOT crippled!" my Mom retorted. "He just says this whole thing is STUPID!"
(By the way, the only dance I liked was "Dodi Li" from Israel, derived from the Song of Solomon. It was sweet, slow, evocative, and tender. Now THAT'S Dancing!)
Today's word originally just meant to dance in a circle, and had no religious overtones. As we can see from our Scripture Reference in 1 Samuel, David saw his troops reveling in their plunder of the Philistines. It was a form of celebration, but not necessarily religious in nature.
However, the practice of forming a procession can be very religious. The last few weeks have shown us how important the procession is to worship.
First, we had Palm Sunday. One of the defining moments in the New Testament is when Jesus entered Jerusalem at the beginning of the Passover. The people formed a procession around Him, waving palms and declaring Him the King. This was such a powerful display that it had the civil and religious authorities extremely upset.
Next came the Latin Easter, and a week later, the Orthodox Easter. While processions are important in the Western Liturgy, they are even more so in the Eastern. In fact, the night before Easter, the entire congregation goes outside the church building and walks around it three times to commemorate the three days Jesus was in the tomb. Because of the quarantine, some churches did not have processions this year, but I did hear of one where the congregation did the tradition, but stayed six feet apart. Of course, they were STILL criticized, but what else is new?
To make things even more interesting, Passover was right in the middle between the two Easters. Passover does NOT include a procession, but the exact opposite. Its origin was, of course, the Exodus, when the people stayed indoors, protected by The Blood of the Lamb, as the plague "passed over".
And so, we have today's Hebrew Worship Word, which has a lot to do with "Music in the Bible."
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
