New Jersey's governor, Democrat Phil Murphy, says he worked hand-in-glove with Newark Cdl. Joseph Tobin in shutting down the state.
In a Fox News interview with Tucker Carlson last week, Gov. Murphy claimed Tobin gave his blessing to banning public gatherings.
The governor even said Tobin promised him there would be no drive-thru Holy Communions in his archdiocese in the name of fighting the virus.
Gov. Murphy: "And I said listen, I'm really concerned about drive-thru Holy Communion. He said 'We're not doing that, I promise you, and I'll confirm that with my fellow bishops.'"
Late last month, Cdl. Tobin ordered that all churches and adoration chapels in the archdiocese of Newark be closed ostensibly for fear of spreading the Wuhan virus.
For many Garden State Catholics, this has meant having almost zero access to the Eucharist. The closest most can get to attending Sunday Mass is watching it broadcast on television or online.
Across the country, people of faith are being prohibited from attending religious services.
Some dioceses have even restricted the other sacraments, including baptisms, confessions and anointing of the sick.
As there is growing discontent with government orders, Catholics hope they can reclaim access to the sacraments sooner rather than later.

Nighty Night New Jersey
Lot’s of Catholics may be heading for the exit door. And I say this as a practicing Catholic...
My opinion too. I cant remember if it was this Tobin or Cupich or another one of Bergoglios corrupt buddies who said the equivalent of (I dont remember the exact words), Prayer doesnt help, the government knows best.
Sick. My bishop also shut down the churches even before the city did (the governor never did but gave leeway to the cities) and then beat feet outta there...hasnt been seen since, to my knowledge. Some of the priests are quietly opening their churches, but they have to keep it hidden.
So, yeah, I think therell be a lot of ex-Catholics after this is done.
He missed the part about LAWFUL "civil authority".
CCC:
2242 The citizen is obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel. Refusing obedience to civil authorities, when their demands are contrary to those of an upright conscience, finds its justification in the distinction between serving God and serving the political community. “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” “We must obey God rather than men”
When citizens are under the oppression of a public authority which oversteps its competence, they should still not refuse to give or to do what is objectively demanded of them by the common good; but it is legitimate for them to defend their own rights and those of their fellow citizens against the abuse of this authority within the limits of the natural law and the Law of the Gospel.
Not that the Bishops give any mind to the Catechism :-(
I think the comments here are right. A lot won’t come back when they open the doors again.
It was Cupcake Cupich.
I have been praying more than I ever have in my life, and encourage everyone to do the same-daily and perhaps hourly, if you are able to.
Pray for our Churches, and pray for President Trump as he leads this nation to open again.
Ever since it was on the cover of our Sunday Bulletin!!
I just don’t get why the Bishops haven’t made widespread use of the viaticum.
I can get booze delivered to my front door for God’s sake!
It’s like they just don’t care.

You are always a Catholic....how can you exit your faith? The mark is on your soul.
The consecrated Eucharist is THE difference between Protestants and Catholics right?
The Eucharist becomes the actual body and blood of Christ, correct?
And receiving Communion at Easter is normally mandatory?
But no one was able too have Communion this past Easter.
It was very unsettling for my family and I, and I'm sure millions of others, to not be able to go to Church.
I understand we have a major health crisis, but, comments from some in leadership positions in the Church have been bizarre, or minumly, failed to take any of the above into consideration .
My .02 cents
