Footage of Francis receiving a bottle of Scotch from Scottish seminarians and calling it the real water of life was censored by the Vatican, reports TheTimes.co.uk (April 15).
Francis failed joke was part of a documentary about the Scottish Seminary in Rome. It was recorded last year at the Apostolic Palace and will air on BBC Scotland on Sunday.
Vatican officials insisted that Francis remark be cut out of the film.
The water of Life (Rev 21:6 and 22:1) refers to the Holy Spirit (CCC 1137).

Ping
Cannot POSSIBLY disagree.
Never thought I’d agree with this dude about anything.
Look, at some point everyone in the world has to realize that social distancing is no way to live.
Signs that people are cracking up from being so bent up and uptight have to start leaking out.
Surely he’s talking about Islay?
So is the comment expurgated or excommunicated?
Fr. Damian never practiced social distancing with the lepers in Hawaii.
Come to think of it, Jesus Christ never practiced social distancing with the lepers in His time.
So much for Bergolio’s “field hospital”, just a bunch of fluff.
Isn’t it a shame that Vatican officials have to censor their own pope who renounces the title of Vicar of Christ?
For once I agree with this guy!
Roaming Man is a religious experience, yes.
Whiskey, Tango, Francis . . . now fits a little bit better.
The original Gaelic for whisky does translate as “water of life”. So this was a pun, take it easy.
I didnt know Bergoglio was fluent in Gaelic.
I am not fluent in it either but it’s not exactly esoteric. Besides you don’t think Francis wrote the speech himself, do you?
I didn’t know it was a prepared “speech”.
I had assumed it was another one of his inane unscripted musings like, “Inside the Holy Trinity theyre all arguing behind closed doors but on the outside they give the picture of unity.
Or that, “The Holy Spirit is always confusion and disorder”.
You may be right and it could have been an off the cuff remark sprouting from his won confused synapses. Still it was just a play on words. This time.
