Our Father In Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised And Worshiped,
For Your Alone Are Holy,
Righteous,
and Infinitely Just!

LORD, You desire Truth in Our Inward Parts.
There is no way we can hide from You,
what is going on inside,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The ancient root word abad originally meant to toil away at tilling the soil. It was the prophecy given to Adam when He and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden.

The meaning has come down from that to meaning "serve" and is one of the words for prayer. When Moses demanded "Let My People Go", it was to serve Their God in the Wilderness. It also appears in the Ancient Book of Job, as Job's "friends" philosophize about God.

Those who serve a wicked master suffer terribly, but those who serve a Master that is All-Good find it to be a delight.

As Bob Dylan said in a song from the "Slow Train Coming" album, "You Gotta Serve Somebody". Those who serve the devil have made their choice, and will come to a bad end. Those who serve the Lord, as the Psalmist said, serve Him with gladness.
