I think it’s nature’s response to the unsanitary animal slaughtering in Chinese wet markets. (US cleaned up its slaughtering practices more than 100 years ago, under GOP President Teddy Roosevelt - responding to the muckraking journalists like Upton Sinclair and his book The Jungle; the Chinese never got the memo, and epidemiologists have been tracing disease outbreaks to China’s gross wet markets for decades)
