TYLER, Texas, March 23, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – As Catholics throughout the western world have been cut off from the Sacraments and often find themselves locked out of their churches due to the coronavirus, Bishop Joseph Strickland stationed himself at the busiest intersection in his city, armed with the Blessed Sacrament held high.

Early in the day on Saturday, Strickland announced via Twitter, “I plan to stand at the busiest intersection in our city this evening with a deacon, vested in a cope & bless the people of God with the Real Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ in His Blessed Sacrament. I urge every priest to do the same in their city. Bring the LORD to His people!”

Afterwards, Bishop Strickland posted a picture of the event accompanied by a prayer for the sick, that they might know that have been chosen to be united to Christ in his suffering for the salvation of the world:

He has the ability to make one proud of him. He recently called for all priests to have processions around their churches. In solomn remembrance of a 6th century plaque which subsided after this act.

However, one week after the announcement, he canceled all masses. It was a shock to put it nicely. (BTW, this was before the Texas SoE).

I look back on the H1N1 in 2009. The only things different was the removal of Holy Water, no wine (blood of Christ), and no hand shaking. I wonder why the over reaction this time. That pandemic killed 16,000 Americans.

Thank you for posting.

That is my hometown. It looks like he is on the southwest corner of South Broadway and Loop 323. That is the busiest intersection of town.

God Bless him, but his church? I don’t know. But God has given that institution a long life, for sure. And you can’t argue with God’s plan.

Ha. As I was clicking through titles on my recent articles page, Strickland was the one who half came to mind as the bishop doing this.

So not surprised at all that it was him.

Maybe we’ll get lucky and he can replace the StalinPope in a year or two!
