Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 126

A song of ascents.

1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of[a] Zion,
    we were like those who dreamed.[b]
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
    our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
    “The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us,
    and we are filled with joy.

4 Restore our fortunes,[c] Lord,
    like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow with tears
    will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
    carrying seed to sow,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
Hallowed and Holy,
Righteous and Just,
Overflowing With Goodness and Perfection!
As We Ascend the Next Step in Your Songs of Degrees,
We Are Reminded Once Again of Your Ultimate,
Eternal, Everlasting, Perfect,
Faithfulness to Your Promises,
And the Infallibility and Immutability of Your Holy Word!

1. When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion,
We were like those who dream.
2. Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
And our tongue with singing.
Then they said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
3. The LORD has done great things for us,
And we are glad.

4. Bring back our captivity, O LORD,
As the streams in the South.

Is There Anything Too Difficult For You, Oh LORD?
You, Who Created The Galaxies,
The Great Star Clusters,
The Black Holes and Singularities?
You, Who Knit me together in the Secret Place of my mother's womb?
You, Who Devised and Designed the Intricate DNA of every living thing,
Each One Unique, After its Kind?
Can a Nation Be Born in a Day?
Can a People be Gathered From the Four Corners of the Earth?
Can an Ancient Language be revived and used every day for commerce and living?
Can a People defend themselves against an entire hostile planet and survive?

WHO are WE to Re-Interpret, Subrogate,
or Replace YOUR Word?
Who are WE to Question YOUR Promises,
Your Covenants,
Your Precepts?

5. Those who sow in tears

That You will Restore Honor, Dignity, and Prosperity,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

My sister works for a small city in Massachusetts. Although she is not technically a "First Responder", she works in that Department. In fact, she is the one that coordinates the schedules, liason between Fire, Police, and Rescue Services, and also the one that PAYS them. It's a very demanding job and she has asked for prayer, not only for the First Responders, but also the sometimes-overlooked support staff. By Saturday last week she was totally stressed out and needed to get out, so we two ladies decided to go "antiquing". I predicted that the huge, rambling, Antique Co-op would be empty of customers, and we would have the run of the place. I wasn't wrong. We spent the whole afternoon there. The place was very clean and tidy, with spotless restrooms and hand-sanitizer on the counter. A few vendors were using the "down-time" to spruce up their displays, and everybody was in a good mood.

Across the aisle, I saw a man wearing what looked like a "Harley" T-Shirt. I walked over and gave the "Standard Biker Greeting", "What d'ya ride?" and he replied that it wasn't a biker shirt he was wearing. Closer than before, I saw that the caption on the shirt was "TWO WHEELS-NARROW PATH" and I instantly understood. The shirt was speaking of the "Narrow Path" which is a word for the Christian Life. Broad is the way that leads to destruction, but the Narrow Path, the "Road Less Taken", leads to Eternal Life. Of course, as a fellow Christian, we had a lot to talk about. He is a lawyer who has a practice devoted to motorcycle riders (and Lord KNOWS, we need him!), but he also gives out free Bibles (he buys them by the case) to any of his clients who want one, so it's also a ministry. Well, of course, you folks know that I have been a minister to bikers for years so we had a lot to talk about. He asked if I would mind if he gave me one of his brand new Bibles as a gift. Well, sure! I would like that! So he opened up the shrink wrap, and inscribed the Bible to me, as his wife and my sister kept shopping around the Co-op. It's a translation I didn't have already in my collection, so now I have yet another. Now I have these:

The King James
The New King James
The Douey-Rheims (with the Apocrypha)
The New American Standard (my Favorite)
The NIV Study Bible (which I use for this Thread)
The NLT (Easy Reading)
Two Teeny-Tiny KJV's that fit in my purse,
A purse-sized NIV
And Finally, the latest addition, The "GOD'S WORD" Paraphrase that was given to me Saturday.

I used to have a lot more, but I give them away too! Anyway, I now know who to call if I need a lawyer.

God often puts me in a position to minister to others, but, in this case He put me in a place where somebody ministered to ME. And my sister had a nice time of refreshing as well.

And that lines up beautifully with current events and today's Psalm:
