In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus . . . I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer (Dan. 9:1-3).
Uncompromising prayer brings glory to God.
Daniels prayer in Daniel 9:1-19 illustrates the key elements of effective intercessory prayer. Those elements will serve as the focus of our studies for several days, but first some background to Daniels prayer will be helpful.
Verse 1 says that Daniel prayed in the first year of the reign of King Darius, the first great king of the Medo-Persian Empire. About sixty-five years earlier, God had punished the sinful kingdom of Judah by allowing King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to conquer Jerusalem and take Israelite captives back to Babylon.
Subsequently the Babylonian Empire fell to the Medo-Persian Empire. Darius conquered Babylon on the night King Belshazzar threw a drunken festival at which God wrote the doom of his kingdom on the wall (Dan. 5:24-28).
Daniel was among the captives originally transported to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. Throughout the lengthy captivity period, he never forgot he was Gods child and always represented God properly despite his difficult circumstances. He was a man of uncommon wisdom and courage. His trust in God was unwavering and his commitment to prayer uncompromisingeven when his prayers could have cost him his life (Dan. 6:4-11).
As a result, God protected him, exalted him, and was glorified through himas evidenced by King Darius decree that everyone in the kingdom was to fear and tremble before Daniels great God (Dan. 6:26).
Since Daniel understood the priority of prayer, he refused to be intimidated or distracted from it. His commitment is worthy of imitation. Can that be said of you? If everyone followed your pattern of prayer, would Gods Kingdom be strengthened?
Suggestions for Prayer
Consistency is important in prayer. You might try praying for different requests on specific days. For example, on Mondays you could pray for your governmental leaders, on Tuesdays for your pastor and the ministries of your church, etc.
For Further Study
Read Daniel 6.
What rank did Daniel hold? Why did King Darius want to promote Daniel? What was the reaction of the commissioners and satraps to Daniels popularity? How did they deceive the king? How did God protect Daniel?

:: Uncompromising prayer brings glory to God. ::
That is a lie.
Again with the Theology of Glory. Mac sounds like a broken record of DESPAIR.
Where does Scripture give US the power to Glorify God through simple, imperfect human prayer?
Not in the Daniel citation.
Does God NEED or even WANT our Glory?
Why would HE?
Is this just some man-centered teaching to make us feel better about our selves?
Those who have eyes, let them read.
So what is this *Theology of Glory*?
I never heard of it.
(I decline the obvious snark response as to why so many have never heard of it...)
In a nutshell, it is the theological doctrine that mankind is capable, through his own pious actions, to lift himself into Heaven.
As long as his actions are directed toward God (supra-piety), that alone is proof of a “spark” or an in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Mankind can then use that spark to raise himself nearer to Heaven.
In opposition we can hear from Luther in his explanation of the 3rd Article of The Apostles Creed:
“I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith. In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ.
I don't believe that.
I see a difference between glorifying myself, which honestly never occurred to me, and doing something that would bring glory to God. Why?
1 Corinthians 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
and
Philippians 2:12-13 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Anything good in me, comes from Him.
Eternal life already abides in the spirit of those who have been born again (1John 3:9). Have you not read that ‘it is God Who is in you, both to will and to do of His good pleasure?’
:: doing something that would bring glory to God ::
What can you, an imperfect, sin-filled, filthy, and unclean human DO to glorify the magnificence of God? How do we comprehend INCREASING the Glory of the all-Glorious God?
:: Anything good in me, comes from Him. ::
Yea, verily...FROM God.
We can only say back to Him what He has already told us (Sola Scriptura).
Eisegesis is a poor tool.
You would do well to abandon it.
Scripture interprets Scripture.
Iron sharpens iron.
Was Paul wrong then in stating that we should do everything to the glory of God?
If your contention is the case, than what he commanded us to do is impossible. So why try?
Paul also wrote (Eph 2:10, which I consistently come back to):
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Our “works” or “fruits” (of which prayer ritefully belongs) are known to God for He established them at the creation. We do them because it is God’s will. (Eph 2:8)
The Glory of God is His. We cannot add to it. We only subtract from it because of our sin. Isaiah tells us: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags (Isa 64: 6a)
What more can pious prayer be?
Ask Him.
We can only say back to Him what He has already told us (Sola Scriptura).
Well, here's what He has already told us concerning our ability to glorify Him.
If that's not good enough for you, then you need to take it up with Him, not me.
Psalm 50:14-15 Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.
Psalm 50:23 The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!
Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
John 15:8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Philippians 1:9-11 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
1 Peter 2:12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
1 Peter 4:14-16 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.
No.
Why do your refuse to accept the clear meaning of my words?
I refuse you projecting of your lack of critical thinking onto me. Your well seasoned use of an electronic concordance shows your lacking. I am surprised to NOT see any attributions to Strong’s, here. (They do have a copyright).
I have quoted centuries old doctrinal writings (Paul->Augustine->Luther) concerning the Theology of Glory which you continue to avoid by using circular arguments.
Heidelburg Dispution
19 That person does not deserve to be called a theologian who looks upon the invisible things of God as though they were clearly perceptible in those things which have actually happened (Rom. 1:20; cf. 1 Cor 1:21-25),
20 he deserves to be called a theologian, however, who comprehends the visible and manifest things of God seen through suffering and the cross.
21 A theology of glory calls evil good and good evil. A theology of the cross calls the thing what it actually is.
It rests upon this...Which is more important for your salvation?
The works you do to “glorify” God in this life (earnest prayer and good works), hoping he will be happy with you when you get to Heaven?
Or, or the work Christ did for you on the Cross?
Read the verse I offered to you. You are falsely accusng me of ‘eis’
9Whosoever is born of God committeth not sin: for his seed abideth in him. And he cannot sin, because he is born of God. DR Catholic Bible
9No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for Godsb seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. ESV
9Anyone having been born of God does not practice sin, because His seed abides in him, and he is not able to continue sinning, because he has been born of God. Berean Literal Bible9No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because Gods seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. NIV
Are you seeing the meaning yet?
9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. King James BibleThe LIFE that abides in the born again spirit IS ETERNAL LIFE and the righteousness of Christ has been -as in an already done deal- has been imputed to that one so that the spirit is cleanse and indwelt by the Life of God. Now if you are a Catholic, you have been indoctrinated thateternal life cannot be yours until you've had a sacramental history of infusion, drip by drip, sacramental participation by sacramental participation, until you become worthy for purgatory, then Heaven. THAT is contrary to what the Word of God teaches.
And here is how you can know that the abiding life of God is in the human spirit: 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. King James Bible
Hate to disappoint you, but I am a saved, born again, new creation in Christ, whom God saw fit to call HIS child, and Jesus calls *friend*, and who was worth enough for Jesus to die for.
My value is based on the price someone is willing to pay for me, and since there is no greater worth than the life of Jesus, that makes me worth far more you seem to think.
To see Jesus as He is NOW, we must be, must exist in the same space and time coordinate system He now occupies. So when He comes to take us to the Father's House, HE will put our alive spirit in a new body made like His now, so that we can see Him as He is, now.
A three spatial dimension object like a ball is not sensed by a two spatial variable being except where the three spatial interscts the two spatial realm, as a dot then circles increasing in sicxe then decreasding down to a dot and disappearing. Jesus taught this in John 14 where He told His disciples that 'from now on you have seen the Father' ... get it yet?
Go crawl back under the Q Anon rock you’ve been hiding under.
