His theory was that most of it fell at the poles.

He also made the argument that the trade winds went north/south rather than east/west. And the temperature difference from equator to pole would have been around three degrees.

The plants were created and put in place on the third day, but the sun and the moon not until the fourth. How many centuries was that?

It couldn't have been that long otherwise all those plants would have died for lack of sunlight, would they not?

American Indians had a legend /story of a flood where they were making huge canoes for woman and children. One of the things to look for when arrowhead hunting is to find the highest point of land in the area where you are looking for points.

One of their well known legends depicts the flood and the destruction of a sinful people. Following that, a white prophet arrived and taught them the basis of morality and laws.

But the Bible says that only Noah and his family survived. So who survived from that legend to tell the tale?

“dating out to 5K years is preposterous”
Could it be preposterous that those who interpreted the said historical and archaeological findings want to prove there is no God more than than they want to find truth?

You know these same academics that say that socialism is great and always has a great outcome or say that if homosexual sex done safely is okay without no risk? Those same folks are not using science by any means because with a little research one can find the exact opposite it the truth.

You can chose to trust these folks, but I will stick with the Word of God that has a far better track record of truth.

So if earth was almost stationary for six days those six days could have been centuries by today’s timing. Whatcha think?

Not a feasible proposition, since one side of the earth would be roasted. instead, I propose that perhaps when man sinned then death began, and so affected the basis for determining organic decay that even a 3-month old rock would test to be millions of years old.

Then there is speculation on Redshift are regards starlight.

Not needed, for the water did not simply come from above out of a vaporous atmosphere but from beneath we well.

And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. (Genesis 2:5-6)

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. (Genesis 7:11)

What about mountains?

You mean all the mountains we have now existed then and as high?

Scientists Discover a Vast Reservoir of Freshwater Hidden Beneath The Ocean a mostly "continuous submarine aquifer system spans at least 350 km [217 miles] of the US Atlantic coast and contains about 2,800 cubic kilometres of low-salinity groundwater"... the groundwater reservoir might even extend farther than that. ,https://www.sciencealert.com/scientists-discover-vast-reservoir-of-fresh-water-hidden-off-the-us-coast

Once you begin to take texts in isolation then you may find your conclusions were presumptuous.

Since Scripture describes only universal wickedness, and this universal judgment, then restricting all this to a local event in unwarranted.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth ; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. (Genesis 6:5-7)

And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven ; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. (Genesis 6:17)

And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: (Genesis 7:21)

And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; (2 Peter 2:5)

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished : (2 Peter 3:5-6)

He knows more about what he is talking about than you do. By the way, he is going by the Biblical account, so yeah he knows what he is talking about.

I would suggest you read his books before you sit there and attack him.

There were common ancient floods where a man loaded a ship full of animals to prevent them from being destroyed?

The separation of the continents happened after the flood and tower of babel.

No. But serious regional flooding was common. Heck, it still is. We just have a global viewpoint now.

I don't think I "attacked" him at all.
Noah's sons who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan. Genesis 9:18

Dr. Hugh Ross's actual argument: Does the Bible Say Noah’s Flood Was Global or Universal?

Video version: The Flood of Noah, Local or Global?

From his Facebook page:

"Many Christians think I believe Noah’s flood was universal but not global because of the scientific evidence. Some even think I put science above Scripture. In truth, I am convinced based on the Bible itself that Noah’s flood cannot possibly be global in extent. I explain why in much detail in six chapters of my book, Improbable Planet."

If Noah took all land animals onto the ark, he must have known about the Americas!

Then why didn't the cureloms and cumoms continue to exist past the Lamanites and Nephiites??

"And they also had horses, and asses, and there were elephants, and cureloms, and cumoms; all of which were useful unto man, and more especially the elephants, and cureloms, and cumoms" (Ether 9:19).

So far, we know that cureloms are USEFUL.

"After they [the Jaredites] had come down into this valley by the command of the Lord they collected seeds and grain of every kind, and animals of almost every description, among which, no doubt, were the elephant and the curelom and the cumom, very huge animals that existed in those days, and after travelling and crossing, we suppose, the sea that was east of where the Tower of Babel stood, and travelling through the wilderness many days, with their flocks and herds, their grain and substance, they eventually came to the great Pacific ocean, on the eastern borders of China or somewhere in that region" (Orson Pratt, JoD 12:339-340).

Now we know that cureloms are VERY HUGE ANIMALS. This rules out tapirs and salamanders.

"Now to prepare them against these contingencies, and that they might, have fresh air for the benefit of the elephants, cureloms or mammoths and many other animals, that perhaps were in them, as well as the human beings they contained, the Lord told them how to construct them in order to receive air, that when they were on the top of the water, whichever side up their vessels happened to be, it mattered not; they were so constructed that they could ride safely, though bottom upwards and they could open their air holes that happened to be uppermost" (Orson Pratt, JoD 12:340).

Finally Orson reveals all: Cureloms are MAMMOTHS! And the Jaredites had elephants and mammoths in their barges with them!

I want to bear you my testimony that I know all this is true, and we are so blessed to have the scriptures and the Journal of Discourses to tell us about cureloms. Inthenameofjesuschristamen.

The First Book of Nephi Chapter 8:3

 And behold, because of the thing which I have seen, I have reason to rejoice in the Lord because of aNephi and also of Sam;

for I have reason to suppose that they, and also many of their seed, will be saved.
