At first, says Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker in an interview with EWTN, it pushed me away. I was like ah this is just, this is just not me. It doesnt go with the world .its just like kind of old school traditional stuff. But then I think that also attracted me because it was so different from the world.
Hes talking about the traditional Latin Mass (TLM), a liturgy which the 23-year-old Butker not only attends, but at which he also regularly serves at the altar.
Its opened my eyes to the tradition of the Faith. You know, with Saint Augustine, with Thomas Aquinas, with all of these great saints, and then seeing that this Mass of the Roman Rite, the Latin Mass has been the Mass for the past 1500 years that all these great saints went to. They were saying the same Latin prayers. Its just very beautiful, you know? I feel very united.

Sorry!!
Don’t be greedy!! :)
No he meant it. 1500 years is a conservative estimate of the form of the liturgy. If you examine the names listed in the Canon, it is like a family prayer, where each saint is added as they were martyred.
When I was a child we added names to our night time prayers as they were born. So it started with my parents, and then each sibling was added. And then as the children grew they added their aunts and uncles and cousins as they were born. The prayer became a living family tree.
The same can be said for the Canon of the mass. If you look at the names, the liturgy goes all the way back to Peter.
For example, Just prior to Consecration: “Having communion with and venerating the memory, first, of the glorious Mary, ever a virgin, mother of Jesus Christ, our God and our Lord: likewise of blessed Joseph, spouse of the same virgin of Thy blessed apostles and martyrs, Peter and Paul, Andrew, James, John, Thomas, James, Phillip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Simon and Thaddeus; of Linus, Cletus, Clement, Sixtus, Cornelius, Cyprian, Lawrence, Chrysogonus, John and Paul, Cosmas and Damian”
and then after Consecration:
“To us sinners, also, Thy servants, who put our trust in the multitude of Thy mercies, vouchsafe to grant some part and fellowship with Thy holy apostles and martyrs; with John, Stephen, Matthias, Barnabas, Ignatius, Alexander, Marcellinus, Peter, Felicitas, Perpetua, Agatha, Lucy, Agnes, Cecilia, Anastasia,”
So based upon this DNA, if you look at who these people were and when they lived, with the view that the canon was a living family tree of the Family of God, it is obvious that the mass is much older than 1500 years.
Do I wish Kelce hadn't uncorked the f bombs? Yes, and he may benefit from the TLM. Do I wish he hadn't made the speech? No. And I'm glad the Chiefs won.
The People's Republic of NJ hasn't the firearms to annex Philadelphia. But I'd be in favor of Staten Island doing a leveraged acquisition of NJ, deporting the Dems and RINOs to NY, and forming the 51st state, with dp0622 being declared Emperor.
THE CHURCH CHANGED TO THE NEW ENGLISH MASS AND LOOK WHERE THE CHURCH IS TODAY. ATTENDANCE IS DOWN FROM 76% IN 1962 TO 25% TODAY.
IN THE TRADITIONAL MASS THE CONGREGATION SAYS THE MASS ALONG WITH THE PRIEST AND IN THE ENGLISH MASS THE CONGREGATION SITS AND SINGS OR RESPONDS TO THE CELEBRANT.
LOL
Maybe there’s a Caesar in my bloodline.
A fat, balding kind of lazy Caesar but a Caesar nonetheless! :)
And how did you find a 2 year old thread? Word search?
I’d not seen it. Thank you
Kelce got beat up over his cussing, and I'm generally on board that his mouth and soap should have a fling given the venue. But...the thrust of his speech WAS to pay homage to his adopted underdog town (Kelce is from Cincinnati) and to embolden the "us vs them" ethos that, I believe, is part of why the Dems can't crack Trump Nation. Also, anyone who wears a Mummers outfit and drank the free beers fans gave him along the parade route has to be given some props.
As for fat and balding with leadership potential, you're in good company, FRiend...
Judica me, Deus, et discerne causa meam de gente non sancta; ab homine iniquo et doloroso erue mei.
I attend Latin mass daily. The ultimate worship experience!
Hi MCB! St. Collettes is a very good parish, and I like the 12:30 mass, I go sometimes. We were members of St. Michaels and sent our kids there. Wonderful school. Oh yes, St. Joes does have Latin Mass, but those pews! I could never go there, I could never schrunch up enough to sit in them. Once was enough.
there are a whole crew of them on the Chiefs, I’m in KC
I don’t understand your post? Can you please explain, what is your point?
Why the all caps, is your caps lock button stuck?
