Terri Schiavo’s Priest Passes Away at 97 After Fighting for Her Right to Life

The priest who fight valiently alongside Terri Schiavo’s family to protect her right to life has passed away. The Schindler family fought a losing uphill battle against the court system that decided Terri was better off dead than living as a disabled patient.

Monsignor Thaddeus F. Malanowski, a retired Brigadier General in the United States Army and who became known as “Terri Schiavo’s priest” during her family’s battle to properly care for her, died on January 23, 2020. He was 97.

Bobby Schindler, President of the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network, said, “Monsignor Ted visited Terri regularly during her time in hospice in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida, and he became a dear friend of our family. If there was ever a man who fit the description of a ‘living saint’ it was Monsignor Ted Malanowski.”

Schindler added: “It was because of his close relationship with Terri and her family that Michael Schiavo, Terri’s estranged husband and legal guardian, tried to bar Monsignor more than once from visiting Terri. And it was during Terri’s two-week dehydration and starvation death that Michael Schiavo attempted to prohibit Monsignor Malinowski from offering Terri Holy Communion. Monsignor Ted was heartbroken by Terri’s death and was initially one of only a few priests who publicly condemned the decision to deny her food and water. Requiescat in pace.”

Monsignor Malanowski served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army for 30 years, retiring with the rank of Brigadier General. He left the service with an unblemished record. During Terri’s protracted legal battle that began in January 2000, Monsignor Ted would visit Terri every week and sing her songs in Polish.

After Terri’s death, Bobby and his family started the Terri Schaivo Life and Hope Network to help other disables patients like her.

God Bless him. In today’s world, I doubt there would be many people who would stand up for her.

There are nothing but wonderful words to utter towards the memory of that man. He gave Terri and her family much love and comfort in her last days. As for that &$%×/>%>=^$, I will leave it at that.

What a horrible time to be in Florida while Terri was being slowly starved to death. Our protests fell on deaf ears as we were fully witnessing the overt demonically planned death to go forward (the Scientology hdqtrs are based in this county).
Our Roman Catholic Convert Governor, Jeb! appeared to be on board to help her and got his brother the Prez to get a federal law passed to save Terri. NOthing worked. No one wanted to overturn the criminal decision of one local judge, George Greer, who showed no mercy at all. State Protective service wouldn’t do anything, and that is when Jeb! threw up his hands and said Oh Well. You see, the law got changed in Florida and a doctor can medically order a person not receive food or water, and who would ever question a doctor’s judgment?! Well, plenty of people did question that, but no one had standing except Terri’s husband.
The Bishop Robert Lynch of the St. Petersburg diocese blew the country rather than intervene in her starvation. Why? Terri’s husband had his new wife all picked out and she wanted to be married by Bishop Lynch. Michael needed to be a widower to have that happen. A Two-fer, you might say. The Florida Euthanasia effort was allowed to proceed on a non-terminal non-comatose person, and Michael’s new bride got her wedding performed by Lynch.

May Monsignor Thaddeus F. Malanowski rest in peace. Father Pavone was another one of the good ones who kept us informed. Bless him as well.

That whole tragedy was heart breaking and telling.

I couldn’t believe a forensic autopsy wasn’t preformed!

GOD bless the Monsignor.

I recently sat in a hearing and they had retired Judge Greer there as the mediator. He says he has a book out about some of his difficult cases. I felt like I was sitting across from Satan at the time. I had also sat thru one of his hearings back when the Schiavo case was going on. That’s when Glenn Beck was involved and met him in the courtroom. Time flies.

I just thought on something else that occurred at the time.

A women who was comatosed in the past was placed on no food or water during that coma time. She went public with the horrible pain of dehydration.

They let Terry die of dehydration.

IF this is a book about Greer’s “difficult cases”, my bet is that he won’t mention Terri Schiavo. It wasn’t difficult at all when he declared “This girl is going to die!”

I don’t think I could be in the same room with Greer and not end up arrested. My hat’s off to you for having some self control.

That’s why the nurses administered morphine to Terri. They knew she was in horrible pain - so much for being brain dead. Some of the more sympathetic nurses told Terri’s family that they would put a popsicle to her mouth and she had no trouble licking it AND swallowing. None of that mattered. HINO had left orders nothing by mouth ever as he lived in fear that her condition was improving and she didn’t really need a feeding tube. There is no explanation of such evilness. Terri saw it first hand, and so did the police who wrote up the initial report implicating the HINO.

Shortly after Terri died, another case of spousal abuse over in Jacksonville hit the news. A man’s mail-order-bride from another country whacked him in the head with a frying pan trying to kill him. He didn’t die, but suffered TBI and was admitted to another Death Camp Hospice. His mother was trying to get guardianship away from the wife who got the doctor to put in the no food/no water order. I wonder what ever happened to him.

I have never heard that Terri was given morphine or painkillers of any kind, except perhaps early on. Is that what you meant? By the time of Greer’s court, they would not allow anything including lip balm or ice chips. That Terri’s family had to watch her die like this is truly horrible. God bless Monsignor Ted.
