NFL’s Saints Fight to Shield Emails in Catholic Abuse Crisis

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Saints are going to court to keep the public from seeing hundreds of emails that allegedly show team executives doing public relations damage control for the area’s Roman Catholic archdiocese to help it contain the fallout from a burgeoning sexual abuse crisis.

Attorneys for about two dozen men suing the church say in court filings that the 276 documents they obtained through discovery show that the NFL team, whose owner is devoutly Catholic, aided the Archdiocese of New Orleans in its “pattern and practice of concealing its crimes.”

“Obviously, the Saints should not be in the business of assisting the Archdiocese, and the Saints’ public relations team is not in the business of managing the public relations of criminals engaged in pedophilia,” the attorneys wrote in a court filing. “The Saints realize that if the documents at issue are made public, this professional sports organization also will be smearing itself.”

But it’s not pedophilia. It’s homosexuals targeting young adolescent males. Let’s be perfectly frank here.

It’s homosexuals targeting young adolescent males.

If they're underage, it's pedophilia.

Lets be Frank, it’s illegal either way and people who defend either outright or through splitting of hairs are disgusting either way. Yes, technically pedophilia refers to sex whith children who haven’t started puberty yet.

This is damaging to kids either way.

But pedophilia has come into general use as another term for statutory rape and neither the medical profession nor the legal profession own language despite the pompous airs they put on.

Where did I defend it? I merely pointed out the inaccuracy of claiming it’s due to men who want to have sex with children instead of placing the blame where it truly belongs: on homosexual men who need to recruit young adolescent boys into the perverted gay lifestyle. Only the media would never single out the homos as the cause of this aberration. By refusing to recognize this ploy, you’re falling into their trap.

Wrong. As a rule, pedophiles aren’t interested in these kids once they’re grown. It’s not love and they’re not interested in continuing a relationship with them as adults. It’s their youth that attracts them. With homos, however, they need to recruit adolescent boys into their lifestyle or they risk extinction. They don’t care if they’ve lost their youth (any port in a storm and all that). So to say it’s the same thing is disingenuous. And for anyone here who thinks I’m condoning this behavior merely by pointing out the difference, let me be clear: you’re flat out wrong, and it’s disgusting to think otherwise of a fellow Freeper.

Yet the Catholics insist on trying to keep it under wraps - while telling us homosexuals are destined for Hell...

Nobody is trying to keep it under wraps. I don’t know what your news sources are for this story, but you definitely need some new ones.

The Catholic Church does NOT condemn those people with homosexual feelings. The sin is ACTING out those feelings.

The Catholic Church believes that sex belongs in marriage.
Marriage is a bond between ONE man and ONE woman wed to each other.

And there ARE valid reasons for annulments and divorces. I ran into one of those situations about 15 years ago.

Henry VIII sure ended THAT "one wife" business.
1. Divorced.
2. Beheaded (Ann Boleyn).
3. Died.
4. Divorced.
5. Beheaded.
6. Survived.

Liz Taylor had a PACK of husbands...she did marry Richard Burton twice.

Been watching for decades and they definitely did, and continue to do, a lot of damage control...the cases of “coming clean” were generally cases of “can’t contain it any longer”...

“The Catholic Church does NOT condemn those people with homosexual feelings. The sin is ACTING out those feelings. “

You obviously haven’t been watching the Catholic comments here - they also seem to forget that Jesus told us that if we even thought about a sin, we committed it; and if we committed the least of them, we committed them all....if homosexual activities are a sin, then anyone who commits any sin may as well be doing the same thing...but if they have been saved by the blood of Jesus, then all their sins, except if one blasphemes the Holy Spirit, are “no longer recognized as sins that count against us” by God - He either forgave all our sins or He didn’t.

You obviously haven't been paying attention to what the Catholic Church, via their authority, has said about homosexuality.

Maybe you aren't a practicing Catholic or even a Catholic.
You can go to ANY Catholic site and ask that question. But that would only be if you really wanted to know the answer.

We cannot monitor EVERY SINGLE thought that comes into our head. When the boobtoob is on ALL KINDS of images emerge. Do YOU manage to control EVERY SINGLE thought that pops into your head?
If a driver annoys you and you think, for a moment, that the jerk deserves to get a flat tire have you committed a sin?

That would be absurd. NO one on this earth has that kind of self control.

Have you also been “watching for decades” the same problem in Protestant churches or in the education system? The rate of credible sex abuse complaints and/or convictions in those institutions is 10% while priests in the Catholic Church have been accused or convicted at a rate of 2.5% over the last 60 years, per an exhaustive study by The NY Times in 2002.

And what “authority” is that?
The very word reminds me of the pharisees - and what Jesus had to say about them.

I’m a recovered Catholic - finally got old enough to realize they praised way too much in the earthly realm and claimed that these mortal, faulted men were critical to everyone else’s salvation....being excommunicated from our parish for not raising the amount in the envelopes helped...along with watching the priest, who was right next door to us, wobble around drunk.
Pretty clothes and glitzy pomp doesn’t salvation make...

I don’t wear blinders - the others don’t elevate their teachers/pastors/priests to the same level the Catholics do - except maybe the Episcopalians .... isn’t that a bit ironic ...

I feel very sorry for you. What Jesus instituted, His Church, the Sacraments and the priesthood HAD to be good because they came from JESUS.
And all you see is the bad. I guess the half-filled/empty glass is ALWAYS half EMPTY for you.
Since Jesus had to use humans to continue His Work, sins had to happen since WE ARE ALL SINNERS. You seem to expect more of priests...I guess they're not allowed to be sinners.

-- God created Lucifer KNOWING that Lucifer would betray Him and become Satan. Yet God DID create Lucifer.
-- Jesus chose Judas Iscariot as one of His Apostles. Jesus KNEW that Judas would betray Him yet Jesus STILL chose him.

And you are "recovered" from receiving the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus, our food and drink for our journey to our Heavenly Father. How abysmally sad for you. You don't sound full of joy...which you should be now that you are "recovered."
You sound very bitter and angry. That must make for long and dreary days.

PAX TIBI!

Which is why they insist on calling it pedophilia. It's an effort to obscure what is considered normal male homosexual behavior--recruiting teenage boys into their perverted lifestyle.
