Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I love books. I love History. I love Archaeology. And you KNOW I love the Bible! So when a book comes along with a Templar Cross on its cover, a banner saying "Best Seller!", and over 500 pages, you know I am going to jump right on it. Not only that, the book was only a dollar at the Dollar Tree, so what could possibly go wrong?

Well, it started out OK, but then there were quite a few cringe-worthy bits that set off alarms. The similarity to "The Da Vinci Code" (which I despised) was starting to get to me. Then the book body-slammed into a anti-God, anti-Christian, anti-religion speech that went on and on and would have made John Galt blush. "OK. THAT'S ENOUGH!" I said out loud and into the trash can it went. It was not even fit to donate to the Thrift Store. I think I will just re-read Moby Dick, as it has been a while.

Psalm 84 is a thing of beauty. It can be read over and over again, bringing fresh insights and comfort each time. It is a song of longing for the Presence of God, so powerful in its emotional impact, that the Psalmist envies the birds who can fly right into the Sanctuary and build their nests in the aura of God's Glory. The juxtaposition of God and His Creation recalls the same longing as Psalm 42, comparing it to a Deer in the forest panting for water.

Some scholars theorize that this Psalm was written by a Levite who could no longer minister in the Sanctuary because of the Assyrian or Babylonian Invasion. It is beautifully crafted, with 3 Stanzas and a magnificent Coda. Even in English Translations, it has a rhythm and personality, and also some beautiful descriptive Names of God. I would rather read this Psalm than a God-hating NYT Best Seller, just as:

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

God Bless America!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

_ OW amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!

2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for
the courts of the LORD: my heart
and my flesh crieth out for the living
God.
3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.

4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.

6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.

7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.

9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.

10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."

When I was a little kid, my parents fought incessantly and their was tremendous fear from a home doused with alcoholism. I fell into a fearful depression very young, and I remember one night, longing for God, and his peace. It was in the middle of the night, I walked to the church I went to which was over a mile away, and laid on the steps, and fell asleep for a while. Then I went home. God is our refuge and our strength, and indeed this psalm touches my heart in so many personal ways. Better is one day in his courts than a thousand elsewhere’s. Thank you. God Bless. Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem.
