In her letter, Smolenski drew attention to an incident where Fr. Nolan refused to give the Eucharist to what she called “two legally married women” ...Legally married yes. But not in the eyes of The Church. Good for this priest.

It’s as if a divorced Catholic remarried in a different faith or even in the courthouse. Sure, it’s a “legal marriage,” but it’s not valid in the eyes of the Church. It has nothing to do with her being a lesbian.
