Monsignor Pope Ping!
Christians do not celebrate the Sabbath, but the Lord's Day.
Mass attendance and Church membership are essential for salvation.
Never in Scripture. Ever.
The fact that Frankie is Pope and this man is not
tells you all you need to know about how screwed-up
the Church really is.
Prayers are needed for him.
**Go to Mass every Sunday. Mass attendance and Church membership are essential for salvation. In the first place, God is worthy of our praise and adoration. To fail in our Sunday obligation displays an egregious lack of gratitude.**
Did you miss this?
exactly- Christ said that the will of the father is for people to believe on Him- that’s it- there was no requirement mentioned to attend church, and become a member before one could be saved-
Salvation isn’t running a race and hoping you did everything right- that would make salvation an act of OUR efforts- Salvation is simply having a change of mind about how to be saved- We don’t save ourselves, Christ saves- all that is required of us is to believe-
This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.
Nothing about being a member of any particular denomination-

Yes- never saw anything even remotely like that in the bible- what passage was that? Isaiah maybe? Please point out the verse that says we must avoid ingratitude in order to keep our salvation?
or go to a Roman church with their blasphemous mary worship and continual sacrifice of the mass..
sorry my previous comment sounded kinda flippant- lemme retry- my bible doesn’t state that we maintain our salvation through church attendance or membership- What you quoted was merely the words of man and their church rules, it is opinion, not biblical fact- not God’s word- The Sabbath law was for old testament Jews only- not for modern day Christians redeemed by the blood of the lamb once and for all- Christ’s blood is the sacrifice- the perfect unblemished sacrifice that covers —ALL— of our sin past present and future- when we turn to Him for salvation- That is why Christ said “It is Finished” right before He died- knowing that now the perfect sacrifice covers all sin eternally- to those who turn to Him- to those Whom God has called- His sacrifice isn’t made any Holier or complete by our church membership or attendance or any less effective and complete by a lack thereof
bttt bump
Praise the Lord.
Catholics do not worship Mary in the Latin Church or in any of the other 21 Catholic Churches. We ask her to pray for us.
Roman Catholics pray TO Mary as noted in Roman Catholic sources.
A non-biblical position.
You can attend church all you want, but without faith in Christ it will not help you.
Blasts of clarity like this are what make Msg. Pope one of the best around.
Good point.
Marialis Cultus, 1974
[For Paul VI, liturgical reform and Marian devotion go hand-in-hand.]
[Devotion to Mary must have these aspects:] Trinitarian, Christological, Ecclesial 24-25f.
This devotion forms a very noble part of the whole sphere of that sacred worship in which there intermingle the highest expressions of wisdom and of religion (Lactantius, Divinae Institutiones IV) and which is therefore the primary task of the People of God. (In)

[in conclusion] we have dealt at length with an integral element of Christian worship: devotion to the Mother of the Lord.

Designed for everyone from expert theologians to those simply exploring, this tool is created and maintained by the International Marian Research Institute in partnership with the Marian Library at the University of Dayton.
Less the Roman Catholic attempts to dismiss this source is should be noted this is a very Roman Catholic source.

Seems the Roman Catholic lacks a proper understanding of what their denomination really thinks about the worship of Mary.
They do indeed worship her as admitted in these various comments.
It seems like you are saying the 10 Commandments are not relevant to Christians? What about Matthew 5:17?
How can you read the Bible any period of time and come up with Sunday as Sabbath? Then they say works get you to Heaven? Good gracious.
Jesus spoke of people without eyes to see and ears to hear. There are several (meaning 20+ instances of the 7th day Sabbath), and they can't see it after reading it 100 times. The 10 Commandments tells us that the Sabbath is the 7th day because that's the day of rest for God. Again in Leviticus 23, we see the 7th day Sabbath is the first of the Lord's Feast Days.
We are saved by grace through faith. There is absolutely nothing we can do on our own. Once we are saved, we are expected to do works for the Lord. We are His hands and feet on earth. Once you repent of sin and believe Jesus is Lord, we have been accepted as adopted into the family of God. After this adoption we are our Father's sons. He will punish us because He loves us as a carnal father loves his children, but our salvation is assured. Scripture says we may be saved with the smell of smoke on our garments after judgment, but saved we are. Scripture says we will be beaten with many stripes if we knowingly sin after our salvation. In the White Throne judgement, there is but one judgement,....the second death. You have come in front of God with your own righteousness. The Bema seat judgment judges our works AFTER our salvation. The parables speak to this judgement. One servant had 5 talents given him and he doubled it. The other servant with one talent buried his. God has invested in us and expects a return on His investment.
Sunday is the day that Jesus rose from the dead. That is why it is the Christian Sabbath.
