If he's a heretic, he's outside the Church , per definition.
Like any serious charge in Church law, it would require substantiation by a means that preserves procedural due process. That is, a trial-like investigation. We don't even know, at this point, whether Bergoglio said anything that Scalfari put in quotes.
I read in either the Italian or Spanish press that Scalfari was annoyed by people saying that he was falsifying or mis-remembering the words of Bergoglio. At that point, he published the actual words, and he said that, contrary to what many defenders of Bergoglio have been saying, he actually does record the interviews, which is how he is able to come out with the exact quote. He doesn’t take notes or write out the interview, but he does have the exact words.
And even if he did make it up, wouldn’t it be reasonable for Bergoglio, in something this momentous, to come out and deny these words and make a profession of faith to reassure people?
Yes we do. Scalfari keeps imputing to Francis heretical and ugly statements. The Vatican keeps telling us Scalfari is old and goes by memory, but then follows that up by giving him yet another interview for more heresy to come out.
This is a game and the evidence is clear that Scalfari isn't lying.
If he’s a heretic, he’s outside the Church , per definition.
An excellent example of circular logic. According to the RCC the Pope is infallible on matters of Doctrine. He therefore can not be outside of it.
Id be happy to be shown where Im wrong.
Thanks.
