Europeans, of Italian descent, are “indigenous” to the area, so the statues are of some natives from some other continent, it appears.

If someone enters another’s home, and places incendiary devices that will harm the structure, removing the devices and rendering them useless might be called “emergency services.”
I don’t think I’d call it “stealing.”
Stealing IS bad, but placing demonic pagan idols in the House of God, before the Blessed Sacrament reposed in the tabernacle, is blasphemous

I told our associate pastor, Fr. Jesus, about it on the way out of the 8:30 Mass. I said "Did you know somebody went into the Church of Santa Maria de Traspontina and gathered up all the Pachamama idols and threw them into the Tiber?"
He smiled serenely and said, "It's about time."

The obeisance given this idol is something that is reserved for God and God alone. Putting it in front of the Tabernacle is an affront that demands reparation to the Blessed Sacrament.
I wonder if Francis is going to excommunicate these men of heroic virtue. The Vatican spokesman could only say that “they don't want to dialogue.”
Exorcists say it best: You do not dialogue with the devil.
I would ask everyone to pray for these brave men. They have asked the protection of Archangel St. Micheal, I would hope, but these men have challenged darkness and need much support and protection.
And ya know what? If I was in Rome, Bergoglio and all his henchmen would be going into the Tiber too!
