God created Adam and Eve full grown. There is no reason He couldnt have created the earth and universe full grown Dorothy L. Sayers had a very good essay which made quite a similar point.

We are left then to wonder, if God did, indeed, create the Universe in six of our days, He did so while leaving us many clues that it's vastly older -- 13+ billion years older. Pats wonder boy on head.
You're assuming He necessarily put those there for our benefit. What entitles you to that assumption?

Some one posted that 99% of the synod voted to maintain the Biblical definition and standard for marriage. I wonder what the synod does with the 1%m, since a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

it depends on why the less than one percent voted against. it is entirely possible they wanted an even more conservative statement. if not there is always the ELCA for them.
The point is in so many denominations need votes are close among a split convention. Not so here.

grey_whiskers on clues of an older Universe:
"You're assuming He necessarily put those there for our benefit.
What entitles you to that assumption?" I've seen nothing to suggest otherwise.
The Bible is clear that God sees his physical Creations as good and wants us to use them to be fruitful, prosperous and to multiply.
I've seen no restrictions on honest work, tools or understandings.
You disagree?

Nah, I meant something else, it’d take too long to explain. Never mind.

I agree that certain biblical texts have been translated to say, in effect, that "science" is a bad thing.
But when you drill down on the word translated as "science", it turns out to be "gnosis" referring to a mysterious magical knowledge of the divine -- not science at all.

I appreciate that; but it wasn’t where I was going, as it turns out.
Peace out, dude. :-)

I don’t pretend to speak for the Synod, but my experience is that those congregations are simply left to their own devices. As long as there are individual pastors who are part of the 1% or who allow themselves to be browbeaten (so as not to lose their monthly check, which does happen)by their congregants to support the LGBT lobby, those numbers won’t change.
It’s incumbent on the individual congregations and their pastors to teach truth and hold the ground.
