Often, news coming out of various denominations can be grim. It seems every month there is a new announcement about a traditionally conservative group accepting gay marriage or other liberal ideologies. However, recently there was very good news coming from the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). The Christian Post reports, At the 67th Regular Convention of the Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod on Tuesday [23 July 2019], the theologically conservative denomination adopted Resolution 5-09A, titled To Confess the Biblical Six-Day Creation.1
The official LCMS newspaper comments, Few, if any, Christians dispute Gods creating act. Many Christians, however, struggle with the age of the earth.2 This makes the resolution taking a stand on this issue all the more important, as many people have questions about the age of the earth.

It is a blessing to see that our big brother , well almost, has made such a bold confession. The Bible assumes the historicity of the creation account. The prophets, apostles and of course our Lord Jesus speak of it as history, not some parable. WELS member
I am a creationist who leans strongly toward OLD earth. God is eternal, so the age of the universe is not important to me.

How has the Missouri Synod been doing with the homosexual agenda subjects? I’m a Baptist who loved to listen to Walter Maier.
I’m not sure.
I’m not in the LCMS.
I’m sure God will be eternally grateful for the endorsement.
what is a day in God’s years?
or should i say man years.
old earth, God is Great.
6 days, aka 144 hours.
A man goes to God and says, “What is a million years to you?”
God says, “A second.”
The man then asks God, “What’s a million dollars to you?”
God says, “A penny.”
Then the man asks God, “Can I have a penny?”
God says, “Sure, just a second.”
God has a great sense of humor...
I have three books by Gerald Schroeder. The Science of God. Genesis and the Big Bang. The Hidden Face of God.
Gerald is a both a Physicist and a Jewish scholar. I found his book very insightful and interesting.
The universe (including the Earth) was created in 6 days. The universe (including the Earth) is 13.7 billion years old. Both statements are true and consistent with each other. To understand this, requires some understanding of the Theory of General Relativity and the Theory of Special Relativity.
Gerald’s books lay out the reasoning very effectively for those wanting to delve into this and I highly recommend them for anyone who loves science and the Bible.
How long did it take in seconds?
The second (abbreviation, s or sec) is the Standard International (SI) unit of time. One second is the time that elapses during 9,192,631,770 (9.192631770 x 10 9 ) cycles of the radiation produced by the transition between two levels of the cesium 133 atom.
While God created light on the first day, it was not the light of our present sun, because God didn’t even create the sun and moon until the Fourth Day...so the first three ‘days’ could not be described by human measurents of time, which are dependent upon the presence or absence of the sun or moon in the viewable sky. If anything the first light sounds more like the light given off by a nebula or some other process.

The text of Genesis begs to differ ... "evening and morning" ... there is absolutely no indication in the text that evening and morning means anything else that what it plainly means.
You're over thinking the matter ...
From the LCMS.org main web site: Marriage
Thank you. Very helpful.
Our sun is a Population I (3rd generation) star. Therefore, it would not have been created until well after the big bang.
Go to their website and read the statements from the latest synod convention that happened just last week. They made very strong statements on traditional marriage homosexuality abortion and the like. And they all passed with > 99% of the vote of the delegates. Thank God the LCMS is holding firm.
