English is one of the easier languages to pick up - like Spanish or Hindi

It started off as a creole to mix the Germanic Old English with the Latin Gallo -- so English ditched the gender of nouns mostly and much of the declinations.

That renders English hopelessly imprecise and messy, but easy to pick up at the beginning

When you get into pluperfect and other terms then it can be complex - having had done that, he would have done something else. Though American simplifies it further, dropping all in favour of simple past
