Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Old Testament)

1 Kings 4

Solomon’s Officials and Governors

4 So King Solomon ruled over all Israel. 2 And these were his chief officials:

Azariah son of Zadok—the priest;

3 Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha—secretaries;

Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud—recorder;

4 Benaiah son of Jehoiada—commander in chief;

Zadok and Abiathar—priests;

5 Azariah son of Nathan—in charge of the district governors;

Zabud son of Nathan—a priest and adviser to the king;

6 Ahishar—palace administrator;

Adoniram son of Abda—in charge of forced labor.

7 Solomon had twelve district governors over all Israel, who supplied provisions for the king and the royal household. Each one had to provide supplies for one month in the year. 8 These are their names:

Ben-Hur—in the hill country of Ephraim;

9 Ben-Deker—in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh and Elon Bethhanan;

10 Ben-Hesed—in Arubboth (Sokoh and all the land of Hepher were his);

11 Ben-Abinadab—in Naphoth Dor (he was married to Taphath daughter of Solomon);

12 Baana son of Ahilud—in Taanach and Megiddo, and in all of Beth Shan next to Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth Shan to Abel Meholah across to Jokmeam;

13 Ben-Geber—in Ramoth Gilead (the settlements of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead were his, as well as the region of Argob in Bashan and its sixty large walled cities with bronze gate bars);

14 Ahinadab son of Iddo—in Mahanaim;

15 Ahimaaz—in Naphtali (he had married Basemath daughter of Solomon);

16 Baana son of Hushai—in Asher and in Aloth;

17 Jehoshaphat son of Paruah—in Issachar;

18 Shimei son of Ela—in Benjamin;

19 Geber son of Uri—in Gilead (the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and the country of Og king of Bashan). He was the only governor over the district.

This Chapter may just look like a list of names, but it shows that Solomon was replacing the officials of the kingdom with "his own people".

Have probably contributed more to Western Civilization than any other People Group!

Abba Father, How we long for that Day,
When You will Remove From Your Holy Place
ANYTHING that does not Honor You,
and You ALONE.

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.



We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

When we read the Bible from beginning to end, especially in the Books that are considered historical, we often bump into chapters just like the one we have today. Some people skip right over these "lists" as if they interrupt the narrative. The names are unfamiliar, and soon forgotten as we go to the next exciting chapter. Since today is the Sunday in Memorial Day Weekend, I would like to share some places where the lists of names are very long, but should not be "skimmed over".


This is the Wall of Names at the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. There are 1177 Names on this list. Very few tourists stop and read them all. In fact, it would take a very long time, and the boat back to the shore leaves at precise times. But the names are there, and, as recently as 2014, the Wall was lovingly restored by the AMVETS, who raised $350,000 for the project.


I have been to this Wall nine times. Some of my classmates names are on this Wall, and many of my biker friends will be there today with Rolling Thunder. There are over 56,000 Names on this Wall, and they are listed, not in alphabetical order, but by the year in which the Person died. In an uncanny manner, the Vietnam Veteran seems to have no trouble finding their friend's name on the Wall, and seem to have a way of "zeroing in" right to the correct spot. In my humble opinion, it is the most moving Memorial in Washington DC.


These are some of the Names of those who died on 9/11/01 at the World Trade Center. They were killed by Muslim Terrorists. There is also a ceremony that calls for the reading of these names OUT LOUD. Some politicians wanted to stop doing that, but I hope that they don't.

And, Once Again, our daily reading of Scripture lines up with Current Events in a Way We NEVER would have Suspected.

Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:

The son of Geber, in Ramothgilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim:

Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:
