THE ROMAN CATHOLICS OF BRAZIL MARK THE BEGINNING OF LENT WITH THEIR ANNUAL 5-DAY ‘CARNIVAL’
Now The End Begins ^ | 3/2/2019 | Geoffrey Grider

The Catholic Church in America is relatively conservative, at least outwardly, but all that changes when you go overseas. In many foreign countries Roman Catholicism is much more open about their pagan Babylonian and Egyptian roots, where you will frequently encounter Catholic occultism, Catholic exorcisms, and Catholic voodoo. In Brazil last night, they kicked off the start of Carnival which celebrates the Roman Catholic festival of Lent. As you can see from the main article photo, it is openly demonic and pagan.

“And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.” Revelation 9:20,21 (KJV)

The Catholic Church instituted Lent as a special time of prayer, penance, sacrifice and good works in preparation of the celebration of Easter. The word Lent itself is derived from the Anglo-Saxon words lencten, meaning “Spring,” and lenctentid, which literally means not only “Springtide” but also was the word for “March,” the month in which the majority of Lent falls. Laodicean non-Catholic churches like the United Methodists also celebrate Lent. The origins of Lent go all the way back to the start of the Roman Catholic Church in 313 AD.

When you watch how the Catholics in Brazil celebrate their pre-Lent Carnival, to me it’s like what I imagine the One World religion under Antichrist will look like. Now, of course, Catholics will write in to say that these people in Brazil are not “true Catholics’, and that this pagan festival does not represent the global Catholic Church. Well, if that were true, why is not the pope denouncing it for the end times mess that it is? The Vatican must have no problem with it because they have never rebuked Brazil for doing it over the last nearly 200 years.

Mardi Gras on steroids.

Carnival is no longer Christian. It started innocently, but these festivals are no longer “Catholic” any more than the Gay Pride parade is “American”

Carnival is no longer Christian. It started innocently, but these festivals are no longer "Catholic" any more than the Macy's day Christmas or Easter parade is "Protestant" -- Carnival is NOT a liturgical celebration of the Church. Neither is Mardi Gras.....Neither is the St. Patrick's Day Celebration where people drink green beer and dye the rivers green....Neither is the many-days plus shopping extravaganza which is now associated with the Christ-Mass--

These are cultural traditions, which, in the 21st century, the church has no disciplinary control over

Bishops in Brazil and elsewhere have spoken out loud, clear and long about the abuses connected with such festivities, especially the sacrilege and blasphemy of those who dare to link them with the church or any religious feast.

As an ex-Catholic who also believes that the un-Biblical practices and teaching of the Catholic church should be debated, I have to say that I think Geoffrey Grider is reaching a little to far with this article.

Carnival is a pagan festival. There is no doubt about that. But you don't see Vatican members or priests (that I know of) marching in its parades, speaking from the podium to open the events, or anything of the kind. It is a secular event that the "people" (and yes, most of the claim Catholic membership) put on. Is it out of control with vice (sex, drunkenness, debauchery)? Of course. But the Catholic church is not overtly driving or endorsing the event.

I think Francis is an apostate, and I believe homosexuality has infected the Catholic church. Moreover, the Catholic church is teaching people false doctrine concerning a whole host of critical issues, not the least of which is the message of how to achieve Salvation.

But pinning Carnival on the Vatican is too much of a stretch.

I don't think the paganism is sanctioned by the Catholic Church. It seems pagan South American natives have always mixed rituals. For instance religon in Mexico is hard to nail down, but most of the illiterate mestizo population practice a mixture of Mayan-Aztec-Catholicism stirred up with who knows what else — Assemblies of Godism maybe.

"The Catholic Church in America is relatively conservative."

That statement is absolutely beyond stupid.. There is nothing conservative about the Catholic Church..

Catholics don't have all the fun. We Protestants can have all the sex we like.

Really?!

“Roman Catholicism is much more open about their pagan Babylonian and Egyptian roots”

Is he saying that Protestants are just more repressed about them?

…the church has no disciplinary control over…

And they continue to ignore legislative abortionists like Nancy Pelosi.

Yeah, because Brazil was settled by pagan Babylonians and Egyptians. Oh, wait, no, it wasn't.

Because Egyptian and Iraqi Catholics really celebrate Carnival. Oh, wait, no, they don't.

The Brazilian carnival is the way it is because of African and (native) Indian influences ... in other words, it's like everything else in Brazil.

Someone's been reading way too much Hislop and Jack Chick, without doing any critical thinking about it.

Mainly Catholics in Name Only. They have no clue. Pagan rituals mixed with superstition. Don’t call them Roman Catholics.

There are non catholic denominations that also celebrate lent As confessional Lutherans lent is a 40 day time of prayer and reflection leading up to Holy Week. Oh and there is no Mardi Gras or carnival preceding it... just sober prayer, reflection and time in the Word.

"Lent" originally just meant "spring." The Dutch word for "spring" is lente. It's related to the word "long"--it's the time of year when the days are lengthening. (Northern hemisphere bias there.)

The Catholic Church did not start in A.D. 313.

Thank you Skypilot.

Actually Lutherans DO have a Carnival - it's called Fastelavn in Denmark, Germany etc

And just as in Poland or in Italy, there isn't the riotous Rio Carnival.

I think all the celebrations have gotten commercialized too much - like what's the point of Shrove tuesday if one doesn't actually fast? But that's a different quesiton
