I read some book about how the wheat, grapes, olive oil, etc., show our faith’s connectedness with the specific historical event and location of the Incarnation of Our Lord in the Mediterranean world. The sacramental matter has meaning!
It has nothing to do with doctrine. Declaring that only wheat is appropriate for the sacrament is an inappropriate use of the concept of infalliblity. The use of wheat should never have been made a subject of church doctrine. Be careful what you declare infallible! You may regret it later!
Nevertheless, the church has the right to change the type of bread used. Yuca bread is bread. There is no reason why this would constitute a new religion.
The church changed the day of rest and worship through the Power of the Keys. The church has the right to change the type of flour used for the Eucharist.
Let the flaming begin. Incipiat conflagratio !
I wonder when they will start using Halal bread.
Ann Barnhardt’s opinion:
Byzantine Host Bread (Called, the “Lamb,”) is baked weekly by members of the Parish. It is delivered to the priest just before Divine Liturgy begins. It is divided, then placed into the Chalice, already filled with wine; consecrated(+), and administered to the faithful from a gold spoon. I imagine the Orthodox (Greek and Russian) have similar traditions.
**Cardinal Burke explained that according to the Faith of the Roman Church, the matter of the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is wheat bread and natural grape wine. **
I’m with Cardinal Burke here.
But, but, Frankie is the only one who can get the Church through to the Omega Point, so if'n he says "yucca" is it then yucca it is.

The Jesuit organization is so bad it should be disbanded. The Jesuits think they are smarter that anybody else. They come up with these goofy suggestions. Consider father James Martin who wants to change Catholic theology to accept sexual pervertion. This dates back to the Berrigans. The Jesuits ought to wake up!
