Too many Christians shy away from the social gospel, Pope Francis said Monday, because they are afraid the Church will end up looking like the communist party.

Good grief! Communists killed more people than fascists in the 20th century. What Christian wants to “look” like that?

A bona fide Christian faith movement in a country can then affect its politics to the good. But the movement has to be there for God’s own sake. We can never have the cart before the horse. Christians can never engineer earthly politics in the hope that, poof, it will cause faith to appear or unbelief to vanish.
I can’t fault Francis for wishing it were so, but he can be faulted for not understanding that it can’t be so. It has to depend on the sovereign Lord’s plans.
The church got a political silver platter handed to it. The church survived as always due to Christ’s promise, but its heavenly sights were compromised.
Francis is certainly not afraid to look like a Communist.
The social Gospel, aka the socialist Gospel, is not Biblical Christianity.

God chose to ask for peoples hearts, and gave us free will to choose our path in life. God is all powerful, and thus didn't need to ask for anything. God could have 'willed us' to do what he desires us to do, independent of our free will and choice. But he didn't. God supports charity, not theft. God supports love, not coercion. Christ didn't run as a political candidate.
Matthew 6:24 - No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other, Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
You can't be a Marxist and serve God as a free individual giving your heart by your own free will.
